I understand, I in fact don't know much about Biblical lore myself, but I am slowly learning! I find me doing stuff like this to be very ironic. I come from a Catholic family -- I have extended family who are religious -- but my parents stopped taking me to church after my First Communion (Don't ask me what it was I forgot. I was 9-10 rip) So I'm basically relearning Bible stuff by doing this lol. Granted I get this information through Wikipedia LOL, but I have read the actual Cain and Abel story, which is actually kind of funny, because the Biblical Cain talks back to God.

Your comment about it being very circular is a really good comment. It reminds me of the "Circumstantial simultaneity" concept in Homestuck. (If I'm even recalling the concepts definition properly rip)
