re: shadowthehedgehog

Vriska is so obsessed with Terezi it is kind of insane. They both pretend not to need each other, Terezi regrets killing Vriska in the doomed timeline and we do see ghost Vriska be upset about dying, but she literally tells John that she wants to thank Terezi for killing her, if they ever meet again. Vriska does not think Terezi is wrong for trying to kill her, a lot of things suggest that Vriska actually views Terezi as The Ideal of Justice and genuinely believes she can do no wrong. She never ever says anything negative about Terezi, except to comment on how ruthless/calculating/wow its so cool that you almost killed me haha we're still friends right.

In the beginning, Vriska's entire motivation for manipul8ing/helping John is so that she can compete with Terezi/Dave. After giving up on Tavros, on the meteor she breaks up with Eridan and then immediately starts blackflirting with Terezi. This is also around the same time she's starting to talk more with John and becomes less invested with the idea of following exactly in Mindfang's footsteps, it's implied that desire to be like Mindfang was the biggest factor in her relationships with Eridan and Tavros more so than any actual attraction.

I also think a lot of Vriska's need to be "important" can be tied to desire for Terezi's attention/approval specifically. She mostly just wants attention, but she especially seems to be incapable of leaving Terezi alone. Their first conversation in the comic, Vriska messages Terezi for no real reason. Terezi's indifference makes me think this is something that happened fairly often between the time of the team breakup and the start of The Game, especially considering the messages from Aranea's introduction (Where Vriska compliments Terezi for trying to kill her). Vriska's main motive for creating bec noir is that she wants to be a master manipulator and save all of her friends, which pretty much just means she's trying to be like Terezi, because she is so impressed by Terezi's manipulative abilities. Without using any powers. She says as much when she tells Terezi during one of the Alterniabounds that she won't use her powers on John to prove it's not a big deal.

Honestly I think it's a bit parallel to her idolization of Mindfang. She thinks Mindfang is cool because that's her ancestor, but what she really admires is Mindfangs' seeming fearlessness, manipulation, charisma, ability to predict the future, ability to understand what others are thinking, and general combat skill. Which are all qualities that Terezi has. Vriska needs Terezi so badly it makes her look stupid lol
