I love that via the quadrants Homestuck invites the reader to question what it even means for something to be "romantic" (is romance even "real" or is it shaped entirely by a given society's cultural values - i.e. the importance of reproduction) so it's a crazy shame that the modern iteration on quadrant discourse basically centres entirely around arguing over whether moirallegience is "actually romantic" or "just platonic" as if those words have any fucking meaning beyond what the individual arguer perceives them as meaning
