NGL when I was more "actively" in the HS fandom and my "home" was Ao3 and tumblr, I saw a LOT of written fanworks (probably due to the nature of where I was, of course). Longfics, RPs, ask blogs with *some* art, often, but still focused more on the narrative. I dunno if the structure of the fandom has changed in the half-or-more-of-a-decade since, or if we've just been in different places, but I definitely feel, in its heyday, that the Homestuck fandom was *very* literature oriented.

So maybe it's just a matter of where you look.
