In topic: "I am cautiously optimistic about the homestuck pilot"

The format adaptation question is always a pretty key one. We've seen it before with the books which, let's be honest were never really there to replicate the multi media efforts of the webcomic. Here I think certain changes for brevity, focus and perhaps with fewer characters or shifted emphasis now that the characters are much more firmly founded through the opening acts will probably be the case.

One Piece's live action adaptation, or perhaps Scott Pilgrim are both good examples of something being lost through the motion and reality of production, but which used other elements native to the new media to create a new experience.

The Pesterlongs, title case important could be handled one of a few ways, anything from anime style "Show the actual screen shots and have the person talking as an insert shot" to showing the people typing at their computer, to even rapidly condensing those more long form moments to something tighter and more face to face. With the understanding the audience can always go to the original material for a more in-depth look.

Given Hussie's participation I imagine, like One Piece's adaptation there might also be some "clarification" of intent, characterization or other elements that might be adjusted as a kind of post-facto stamp on the perceptions meant then or now.

And of course we're all having the "So what's your VA choice for this character?" discussion again after ever so long.

(For the record the voices are spot on to me, with the caveat of not knowing Jade or Karkat's quite yet. As they're credited we know the full trailer at least has something for them.)

Also a note that as it's a trailer it's generally good practise to put the "sizzle" up front to hook in attention, hence karkat's potential appearence, even if it's just a brief, out of sequence thing to bait the hook with "The Trolls Will Talk". Hussie and the production team knows what puts eyeballs on pixels for homestuck and the funny grey people are there.

Horvitz, the voice director is also very competent and given they do "Funny Cartoon People" plenty the generally assumed case of quirks informing voice and vice versa will be interesting to see played out. What with Vriska's draaaaaaaawn out words and preferences for 8 sounds. And terezi's whole...Thing. Let alone nep's puns. I VERY much doubt octopimp will be around but the "Hussie's internal take approved" voice for everyone from Mom Lalonde to Gamzee to Equius to Eridan will certainly be formidible. Let alone prospit, derse and some of the video game mechanics. I think I speak for many when I say The Youth Roll in full motion will be really fun.
