@yourfemperor you seem to understand my statement rather well despite your disagreement, yes a whalefall is an apt descriptor, for while Homestuck is dead(this is certainly true, there will never be another page just as after our deaths you or I will not eat another meal) it does not only contribute to the ecosystem but actively defines an ecosystem of it's own.
On the matter of purpose a rather famous individual(vladymir illyich lenin I believe) once said the purpose of a system is what it does for a human this can generally described as reproduction, not simply in the literal sense but the day to day eating and waste producing the acquiring of materials for continual eating and waste producing, spreading of ones ideas, as a dependent organism a story serves this purpose in particular, to continually communicate, a standing stone set in time and context to endlessly repeat it's message. Homestuck I believe has largely finished with this work, the fascinations of the modern day lie not within Homestuck but instead within it's offspring (who varryingly are named homestuck) this is not a flaw of Homestuck but instead a particular success in it's own right, most works die and simply remain as that, contributing ideas to slowly be picked away be pests and decomposers(i.e artists)
On the subject of destruction, would you not agree to birth a poem one must first destroy a blank page?
