fandoms aren't toxic because of what ships/headcanons you like, or what part of the story is your favorite, or because you're younger than the original wave of the fandom. fandoms are toxic because the people within them act in a way that makes it toxic. it's hypocritical to blame all the problems in a fandom on young fans/sequel likers/rarepair fans/etc. because the idea that these people are bad is part of what makes the fandom toxic in the first place.
