@Autumn Funnily enough there has been a long winded debate with many western Lolitas who have to come to the realization that what is considered Lolita in other countries isn't considered lolita here. American Lolitas tend to dress more or less how Japanese lolita's dressed in the early and late 90s and still follow rules that many Japanese Lolitas find to be archaic in nature lol.
And Chinese Lolitas "break" ALL THE RULES in that they wear skirts that go way above the knee, and sometimes have their petti showing, and add accessories that don't fit the traditional mold for lolita. It's interesting how the fashion changes depending on where a person lives, I've been following a lot of lolitas from different countries just to see the style changes.
For a while there was discussion on whether it was "okay" to wear a jumpskirt with no blouse, and then lolitas in texas were like "fuck it it's literally 90 degrees year round I am NOT dying of heatstroke for Kawaii fashion!" and now you will often see this as a common way to dress casually in lolita when just a few years ago the idea was sacrilegious.
