ah, true. I took it as John panicking and admitting to things that don't matter and sort of just, getting down on himself. I don't think Terezi was actually underage when they were flirting throughout the Candy Epilogues, but I think it makes sense that John would panic/worry about that when he has such a habit of kind of, well, as roxy puts it in that one Candy Epilogues chapter, performing "self-flagellation fests", which is a bit what he was doing in that scene. So, I suppose I didn't read ill-intent into it? But I can absolutely see the concern of, in the same update we first tease June, such a joke is being made.
