My immediate assumption was some specific ones will be used to tender a point and click style "Look at this" exploration of the items in the room and/or put them in the inventory for a bit of backstory and utility followed by the pre-arranged progression of the story at large.

Certainly The Voice and the whole Terezi Quirk Exile Prompt might indicate external voices and suggestions or compulsions are something of a problem for the Nymphs given their cultural associations.
