I first read Homestuck shortly before Flash got taken out behind the shed and put out of its misery, but quite a lot of things were already kind of broken. Like, as well as the Beatz Machine, I never got the walkaround of John's house at the start of Act 2 to work properly either. Looking forwards to more "oh, THAT's how it's supposed to work!" moments.
