The natural-born vs. ectobiology thing is pretty weird, actually. Until just now I had long believed that it was ectobiology that codes the kids' game powers into them from birth - that's why these characters display their powers even on the other side of the Scratch where they aren't actually playing the game (there are many examples of this). And because of that I would assume that all those other sessions are probably doomed, and Fedorafreak would be unable to actually ascend.
The Cherubs could probably be dismissed as a special case on their own too, since they seem to be deeply connected to Sburb/other grand cosmological things about the universe, but between the other human players, the Cherubs, Obama (who wasn't even an "official" player), and soon the HS^2 kids, the number of exceptions is making me doubt my original conclusion...
I mean, with everything else Sburb can do, it's not like it's impossible for it to arbitrarily grant magical powers to people who level up within the Medium. I just think that "the kids have superpowers, whether they play the game or not, because they were created by the game with them coded in specifically to facilitate their playing of the game" is extremely elegant and sensible.
