Devin:

I also have no idea how Gio read Psycholonials and apparently came away with the impression that you're supposed to think the jubilites are in the right. Somehow being a Hussie defender at the time and reading it myself did not give me that impression, so I guess it's a pretty crappy cult recruitment tool.

Yeah, that's absolutely WILD. The lack of media literacy displayed by G. here is staggering.

I mean, the Jubilite revolution starts out when Zhen sublimates in "post-production" their (in self-defense) killing of a cop into a political act, continues with purges, massacres and assassinations all over the map, you then see Zhen instrumentalizing and using Percy in every way, AND validating a hit list that their fanatical army will follow without questioning, and after they narrowly escape being murdered by their own officers attempting a coup, the final credits show the aberrant succession of short-lived Hornifex soon to be assassinated. AND it's (potentially) all a matter of psychic extraterrestrial colonization.

The fact the capitalist/state system is injust and needs to be dismantled (possibly by violent revolution) is the starting postulate, the overall context in which the story unfolds, but the jubilite revolution is shown, at best, to be structurally flawed and ideologically questionable.

You could make an argument that the movement is show to be the start of something positive, or the devolution of something once positive, you could make an argument that it's a kind of powerful dream, you could make an argument that's a natural part of life for sophont species even, you could make analyses with a thousand different angles demonstrating the Jubilites are still a relatively positive force or something similar - but to make the argument that "Psycholonials says the Jubilites are in the right" is downright absurd.

Especially with those credits.
