Learning a lot about satyr sex/gender here, which I wasn't expecting. I wonder if it's all satyrs that can give birth, or just a subset of them? We still don't know if the omegaverse dynamics are carried over 1:1 or if hsbc has put some unique spin on them, so it's hard to say. I doubt they'll go into much detail in the comic itself, so a lot of what we know about satyr sex will end up being headcanon interpreted from ambiguity, similar to the trolls.

I dunno if this means all satyrs are transmasc or if this is more of a 'male seahorses are the ones who give birth' sort of deal. I assume transness is going to be important in hsbc, and the satyr/nymph male/female split will be used to explore that. Maybe some satyrs are born with female characteristics but are coercively expected to live up to a cultural masculine ideal anyway? Or maybe satyrs are just the mythical idea of a cis boy who can get pregnant, the inverse of the mythical cis girl with a penis. At this point it's hard to tell, we still need to find out what hsbc's version of the alpha/beta/omega dynamics entail.

Actually, where are we on the 'satyrs are exclusively male, nymphs are exclusively female' thing? Has that been proven/disproven or is it still up in the air? I know CC has some gender stuff going on, and I have a hunch Bowie's TMA, but I think all satyrs 'start out' male and all nymphs 'start out' female right?

Anyway, I think that's all from me re: satyr sex. Here's a rapid-fire few thoughts I had about the upd8:

-Adult satyrs do not appear to metamorphosize into centaurs like I was predicting they might. Looks like they just get more bulked up and hulk-ular. I'm a little disappointed by that, but whatever.

-AA refers to her heart as an 'ink stone,' which means nymphs are the ones with black blood. This means satyrs are the ones with silver blood, and therefore Swiss' text color is the same color as satyr blood. I'm now a little more certain that Swiss is a blood player.

-I'm confused why Ly'lac is so surprised that Vriska is real. She was talking to her earlier, right?
-(Actually, going back and reading it now- Ly'lac was messaging Vrissy, but Vrissy wasn't messaging her back. I assumed they knew each other, but maybe that was Ly'lac's first time contacting her and she assumed it might have been a hoax. Also, Ly'lac is DEFINITELY expecting the mythical Vriska Serket and not fellow troubled teenager Vrissy Maryam-Lalonde.)
-I wonder where the story's going with Ly'Lac falling down the dropoff. Maybe she's going to meet up with another nymph who lives deeper in the ocean, and the two of them will be in physical space together before entering the medium? It was mentioned that Vrissy was running the game remotely, so maybe Ly'lac's house will enter the medium on its own and she'll meet back up with it later? Maybe she'll have to complete the entry sequence for AA or CC while they're unconscious or away or otherwise incapacitated? I'm excited to see where this plot thread goes.
