Maybe I should read the epilogues again because I didn't feel any of that "slog". I also don't think it's supposed to be tragic but rather sad and miserable. You know, like having to rebuilt a world and being responsible for it after becoming gods at teen age. I feel like anyone would be messed up from that.

Candy has some VERY good moments too, like Dirk's and Dave's suicide! Also June trying to save Tavvy, Karkat breaking away from the main group, June trying to use her breath powers and not getting anything in return- the entire suffocating feeling of all these horrible things happening but everyone keeps going on with their boring, heteronormative lives.
