hoooooly shit i loved 17776… i remember back after i read it for the first time i felt like such an overwhelming existential feeling like its genuinely such an experience
still waiting on 20021… maybe one day………
yo
I love 17776 and 20020. Funnily enough, I discovered both through a rec list for Homestuck fans. If you guys like JUICE and haven't read 20020, I highly recommend it. Or just if you like 17776 in general, but especially if you like JUICE.
yooo no way 17776 mention! probably one of jon bois's best works of all time, i absolutely adore how it uses it's medium and the story itself is super good. probably like the main inspiration for my own writing in present day jon bois just so nice with it.
i heard he turnt 20021 into an actual book on his bsky, really curious as to how he's gonna do some of the more crazy formatting of 17776/20020 in a book but its probably gonna be sick nonetheless

Woah, I didn't think 20021 was ever coming out. I'm very happy to hear it's not just completely cancelled. Thanks for sharing, I'm going to have to keep an eye out for that.
Not technically about 17776, which is excellent by the way, but I just wanna say that Jon Bois and his crew have gotten me more invested in sportsball than any other force in the galaxy. The Atlanta Falcons videos are perfectly ultimate: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLUXSZMIiUfFSzzgEL4N9aYBXPmGVen3zW
I haven't watched the other Dorktown videos yet. This is obviously a gigantic mistake that I must find the time to correct.
The "what year is it" video for 20020 was one hell of an opening. I still remember the opening song.
Barely checked out the recent stuff though. Why make the next one a book? Because money?
HE IS
ABSOLUTELY
KILLED!!!!
hard to really pin down how much i love 17776. i think the part that got me the MOST, though (besides. you know. all of it.) was the guy in the cave who speedran that little video game for years and years and years until he got it frame perfect. second fav is the eulogy for the Livermore Centennial bulb- i used to live there, and i remember learning about it in school. reading that part for the first time was a punch in the gut.
* and the universe said I love you because you are love.
OH MY GOD 17776 MENTION. i’ve started reading it and it’s such a rabbit hole i LOVE IT the niche hyperfixation worms are getting me Again
.ham. cheese. cracker. ham. cheese. cracker.
Yooooo!!!! I freaking love 17776! I've been rereading it since I recommended it to a friend and I forgot just how good it is.
Nine and Ten and Juice my beloved....
I still have to read 20020,,, Will get to it one of these days
GAH I love 17776 so much. One of the few pieces of media to make me tear up. I should reread it soon...
20020 as well, if you liked 17776 and haven't checked out 20020 give it a try!! It had me whooping and cheering out loud when I got to the ending.
I've never really cared about sports but Jon Bois' love is so pure and thorough and stirs interest even in the cold and frozen heart of a nerd like me. It's honestly beautiful. And both pieces make such excellent uses of the medium... They're amazing stories.

LOVE jon bois! all his work is fantastic and his music choices are always excellent. his dave stieb documentary is a personal fav of mine but 17776 will always reign supreme in my heart. re the book, my guess is that it's less of a 20021 and more of a tim tebow cfl chronicles in terms of independent plot set at a pretty distant point in time away from the world proper. but we'll find out soon enough and i'll be equally happy if im wrong!
I cant believe I missed this thread holay shit I’ll come back when I have actual coherent and meaningful thoughts to share
read https://www.sbnation.com/a/17776-football
I come back every other year or so to read 17776 Football again for a refreshing take on humanity and existentialism. I haven't followed up on the creator's projects so thanks to this thread for giving me further research!
TC: But here's the slimer...
Oh my goodness I did not expect to see 17776 mentioned, though perhaps I should've seen it coming in a Homestuck forum. Thank you for reminding me about it, I should read it again.
17776 MENTIONED!!!!!!!! such a lovely comic, it's always a good reread when i start getting a little existential or thinking a bit too hard about human purpose or lack thereof. it's such an oddly comforting work. i've been obsessed with these ridiculous satellites since likeeee 2017 ish i'd have to say.
for anyone who hasn't seen it, i'd love to recommend the animation suntanned stepbrother
(https://youtu.be/m69-dLCui1E?si=lZ_LBdY5oihM8M5S) by patchpark! they do some really cute 17776 animations on their channel, so you should poke through the rest too. there's a lot of love and skill put into them :)
anti homestuck i hate those guys
YESSSS I LOVE 17776 !!! i lowk still need to read 20020 though 😭 ill get to it Someday...
