Grind fiction is a subgenre of media grounded in (skate) punk, extreme sports culture, as well as street fashion and music. Its themes emphasize the importance of being yourself and resulting self-expression, mainly through artwork, music, fashion, and alternative modes of transportation (be it roller skates, skateboards, bikes, or even parkour). There are also political undertones and themes of rebellion, often against an oppressive force or government, with them aiming to disallow the forms of expression the main characters use.
I'm pretty much just here for Jet Set Radio and Splatoon (as well as some Persona games), but I'm always looking for new media to try! Send some of your faves my way and I might give them the time of day.
I don't think I've ever seen anything in this genre as far as I'm aware, but it sounds really interesting and I'd like to check out some suggestions people have!
