so im pretty young, probably somewhere around the age most og homestuck fans got into homestuck, im not going to say exactly, bc like, i dont want any of my information public, but anyway i got into homestuck a few months ago bc it was breifly metioned in a youtube video i watched, and obviously theres not many homestucks in my age group so i basically just had to hold in my love for homestuck for those couple of months, and as summer went on i kept interacting with homestuck content and my love for homestuck only grew, but now that summers ending it means ill have to go back to school, im not sure i can hold it in any longer, my best bet is that the pilot comes out in september and one of my classmates sees it, then one day they see me reading an mspfa and they go "wait a minute... why does that kinda look like..." then they ask me about it or i show some of my fan kids to some of the art kids and they just so happen to ask about it, anyway just wanted to know if anyone else had any similiar experiences or found this post entertaining to read
it's funny, because from an outside adult POV i've been going "goddamn, there's so many kids into homestuck again?", but i can definitely imagine the other perspective, too. without sounding like the elderliest human to ever walk this earth, when i was in high school the trick really was to either con your friends/your fellow art students into reading the comic, or to just wear the t-shirts/draw the characters/whatever until someone noticed.
talking to people about your interests is legitimately just hard to do sometimes, especially when it's niche and infamous like homestuck is, but it does seem like more people are getting into it every day. maybe all you need to do is vouch for it and see if any of your Fellow Art Kids would be down to read it.
This was a few years back but one time my Highschool allowed students to dress up in halloween costumes. You had some funny ones like a guy walking around in a inflatable t-rex suit with his speakers on full blast playing meme music, a duo dressing up as Walter White and Jessie Pinkman in my CS class, but importantly there was that one person dressed up as Vriska, grey bodypaint on the face, accurate horns, their outfit even looked like Vriska's. It was wild to see that when i was rushing to my next class. I basically just blurted out "Vriska???" and then asked to take a photo, thanked them, and ran since i was running late to my class. (My Highschool there just did not give enough time to walk to classes, especially since i had to run from the other side of the school.) Sadly i couldn't find that person again (I'm terrible at recognizing people, especially if i don't get a good look at their face.) but it was wild to find out i wasn't the only Homestuck fan at that school since i did talk about it a bit when i had the chance.
So, don't lose hope. It's not impossible that someone there has read Homestuck.
Oh and as a sidenote: Probably someone at your school has played Deltarune or Undertale, so maybe you could convince them to watch the Homestuck Pilot when it comes out by telling them Toby Fox voices the "Main Character" in it. If i weren't a Homestuck fan, that'd probably pull me in due to how illusive Toby Fox is.
I feel you. I‘be had the same experiences. (I’m 16 btw, got into homestuck a year ago) I still don’t know anyone into homestuck, and none of my friends have the attention span to read it. I lucked out and happened to meet some people online that I can talk about it with, but It’s not the same as knowing people irl. Hang in there! dont lose hope!
This is some straight up delirious biznasty, Dawg!!
In my experience it's been okay, but I already have a pretty close circle of nerdy friends. If anyone is into UTDR, they might enjoy some of the ways it connects to Homestuck...
Sometimes I forget how notorious Homestuck is usually considered to outsiders lol, cause I'm used to us being really chill about it! Even the people who don't seem chill at first might like it after a while, too....

i did join a Homestuck discord server once but it got deleted within like a week of me being in there for sooo many reasons :P hope you meet someone who shares your interest! i'm sure the animated pilot will garner tons of new fans

I feel like Homestucks def been having a resurgence amongst the youngsters - growing up most of the people I knew that read homestuck read it around/presumably a bit older than i imagine you are - high school era. and only a few of my irls did (more when I was at an art summer camp lol).
but imagine how cool you'll feel when the cartoon comes out, people start getting into it, and then you're the one who knows all the lore B)
Y'all youngsters reading the comic already before the pilot presumably does well enough to get a greenlight will be the repeated historical cultural phenomenon of "I liked it before it was cool." Also I agree with @alexis is saying!
I feel like my life is split into different subculture silos where nobody else has any interest in the other silos. IRL friends who have any interest in Homestuck or even know what it is: zero (0)
