I decided to finally draw Oathkeeper, the weapon that Karkat uses in the fic. I actually had a lot of inner turmoil when I was drafting Bloodstuck because of Karkat's weapon, lol. I thought, "What if people get taken out of the story because he's not fighting with a Sickle?" and I just think that fighting with a small Sickle is only really practical if you're facing against a normal-sized foe, not giant monsters or imps.
Also, I adore Claymore users and wanted to write another story about a Claymore user fighting monsters, but NOBODY in Homestuck uses a Claymore </3 So I compromised and made his weapon a giant Sickle that is also a Claymore.
Oathkeeper is based on one of those crab-opening tools at restaurants. I thought it only natural he'd still have elements of a crab in his weaponry. The only thing that's strange here is that the weapon is unusually clean for once lol, normally it's got all sorts of troll blood on it.
Normally I draw Karkat in this AU without all the bloodsplatters because its hard enough as it is with this design and all those colors would make everything super muddy IMO. So I just don't try </3
Honestly, the only thing that's unrealistic about my AU is that Karkat did not make the Sickle the same colors as his shitty blu ray copy of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air with Troll Will Smith. I could've made a giant, purple and yellow Homes-Smell-Ya-Later
