I just spent the last 24 hours watching Cascade twice with two separate friends (both of whom I talked into reading Homestuck a while ago) and wow it was an experience. Watching it again and being able to see the insane reactions from my friends was a truly wonderful experience and it really made me appreciate what a truly monumental achievement Cascade is. Even during my first read I knew "oh yeah, this is the absolute best its going to get, there's literally zero way this could ever be topped" and I was not surprised (or dissapointed honestly) when that ended up being the case. While I think pretty much every part of HS has at least some merit and something to appreciate in there and there weren't any parts I straight up hated (with one major exception *glares at Openbound*), Cascade by itself is so fucking good that I genuinely think the rest of Homestuck could have been absolute garbage and it would have still been a worthwhile reading experience for me just for that. That there's so much good stuff even after that point just makes it even better. People throw around the term a lot, but it actually applies here: Cascade is Peak Fiction.
