so far i þink ly'lac & aa are ðe two where we have enough information. i was for sure getting witch of doom vibes from ly'lac, even before ðe line about how "all prophecies must come true" (https://beyondcanon.com/story/819), which is ðe exact mirror image of how "not all prophecies can come true" (https://homestuck.com/story/2441), associated wiþ feferi, ðe witch of life.
aa is harder, since all we have of her is one naglog, but i'm going to go out on a limb and say mage of life. i feel like she's kind of got ðat intense, i-know-what's-best vibe ðat i associate wiþ life players, and maybe all ðe scrying and whatnot is misdirection, but it indicates a knowledge class to me. especially wiþ ðe line about "watching thy ascension from seed to sapling" (https://beyondcanon.com/story/827), which seems to fit well wiþ ðe notion of literally watching someone's life & growþ.
ok maybe i should also just give an overview of my perception of ðe classes, so people know where i'm coming from. i þink ðe classes are paired as follows, wiþ approximately ðe following associated verbs:
witch (active) / heir (passive): give
thief (active) / rogue (passive): take
page (active) / maid (passive): preserve
prince (active) / bard (passive): destroy
knight (active) / sylph (passive): wield
mage (active) / seer (passive): know
þoughts? opinions? responses?
(also ðis is my first post here, so alðough i've read ðe forum rules & poked around some, lmk if ðere are any rules or norms of which i'm at risk of running afoul)
(Welcome to FRAF! :D Don't worry too much about unspoken forum etiquette. The only thing is, well, I have a sneaking feeling that this is probably a duplicate thread, which are avoided. I didn't go and check myself, but I'm pretty sure there's at least fifteen threads buried in here somewhere about Ly'lac and her eventual friends' classpects.)
Personally, I'm holding off on more specific classpect guesses until we've spent more time with these guys, but I can't deny the very obvious Doominess around Ly'lac. Honestly, she's laying on the Doom coding so thick I almost want to think it'll be some elaborate bait-and-switch, and they'll reveal all that fatalism is just her Nymph way of expressing Hope and the bombs are just... uh... Hopemagicbombs! Or... something.
I do find Mage of Life for AA intriguing, though. There's certainly a case to be made for Life but I'd say Mage/Seer is the even more likely part. For as much as we talk about classes as Verbs and Activity, they are also just plain old archetypes, and giving AA an orb is preeeeetty archetypal. (though perhaps orbs are just a prominent part of culture/technology for the more up-to-date non-Ly'lac Nymphs, owing to Rose's influence)
On one hand, I do like Doom Ly'lac. On the other hand, I do think that the Omega Kids are covering the classes/aspects that we've never seen in a human session, and I don't think we'll see aspect doubling between them and the deletrians. I do think Ly'lac is a seer, as presumably Rose's self-insert/projection nymph tho

the nymphs all being assumed female at this stage, I'd really like to see them get Maid, Sylph and Witch. I think those three classes in particular have been really let down thus far by a lack of explicit information, where the male-dominated classes have been CAKED with lore... like, we know that the Sylph is a healer, I guess? but that's such a dorky summary for a female class and it has such obvious overlap with the Life aspect, which is also for healers... and for Maid and Witch so far as I know we have literally NOTHING concrete.
my specific reasonings:
- CC is styled after Kanaya so she fits as a Sylph.
- AA is a spooky magic girl even in a species of spooky magic girls, so she's a clear candidate for Witch.
- Ly'lac's ancestor is THE CARETAKER, which is basically a synonym for Maid.
a big problem for the Sylph and Witch classes is that those words, in English, don't really have hugely different meanings, because on Earth the roles for women in folklore tend to be a lot narrower than the roles for men... being a whole species of spooky magic girls like I said, it would make a load of sense for "Sylph" and "Witch" to have very specific connotations in nymph culture, kind of like how on Alternia a "Mage" is someone employed for their psionic abilities, which gives us some insight into Sollux' role in both troll culture and in Sburb.
