i find it incredibly concerning people make that art, i know they are technically adults now but its weird considering for most of the comic they are 13. i am new to the fandom, what do you guys think about it?
Not sure what you mean. That adults are drawing characters who aren't adults?
I think it's perfectly fine if an adult makes artwork of characters who aren't themselves adults, if I'm understanding this correctly. After all, Andrew Hussie is an adult, and was when they made the comic!
i think its an innuendo for rule 34?
everything u do is a balloon :)
i just stepped on another beartrap with my other leg(the one that wasnt amputated) and had to get it amputated too:/
Its probably rude to run around like this in front of new readers so im hiding this thing at least. Scroll down to see it

IF THE ABOVE HTML CODE DOESNT WORK I DONT CARE FUCK YOU!!!!
I think "that art" is fine as long as its the [s]Credits adult designs, Epilgoues headcanon designs, or the Beyond Canon designs. Those are full grown legal adults, even if the designs are similar or hardly changed in some cases like in the Credits. Terezi and June have full on interspecies intercourse in the epilogues, Rose and Jade also absolutely did the dirty too.

Just covering my own butt here, but I feel this counts as a "designated area" (because you brought it up) given it's "on-topic" and I wasn't too explicit. I said it in a joking manner as well just to clarify. Forum rule as of time of posting.

Yeah I think OP is trying to allude to NSFW without saying the word. Which in that case, I don't engage with that content but if it somehow ended up in my recommended and the artist isn't using their adult designs (if the design changed at some point) then I raise an eyebrow before either clicking not interested or blocking. And also, it just depends on the context too since I know sexual themes are explored in the Epilogues so I guess that means its allowed. but if it takes place during the canon comic where they're teens? Nope. that's a block from me cus that makes me uncomfortable

@a1m3v yeah like that was very much a thing that happened in the epilogues, otherwise in the very least Yiffy AKA Ruby just wouldn't exist. Agree with blocking people posting adult themed stuff of the non-adult designs though, those are little guys. Headcanon adult designs for dead characters (or OCs) are where things get a little confusing admittedly plus if the character's hair like in the credits hasn't changed much and there's not much else to go off of.

Crap, I spelled epilogues wrong. Anyway Tavvy also wouldn't exist and neither would Harry Anderson if the characters weren't up to adult themed activities. lol

Homestuck is a coming of age story that likes to get metanarrative, deconstruct itself, and also fuck around and push boundaries because it's a mixed-media webcomic that can. While I don't have any interest or endorsement for NSFW content, it's hardly out of place, and (particularly in a written/character analysis medium) I think it's a component of the source work that some uncomfortable themes are explored. I'm reminded a bit of that movie from a couple years ago, Eighth Grade: “I didn’t want to make it R-rated. I just wanted to portray the way kids’ lives are. It didn’t feel like our responsibility to portray the reality that we felt was appropriate for kids.”
I figure this post isn't about all of that nuance, though. I'm not drawing or looking for drawings of that and they certainly don't belong in the general fan space. That's just common sense! If you're uncomfortable, block/extricate yourself and move on, I say.
Remember to drink water and think before you speak :3c
the epilogues and hs:bc are pretty long and currently ongoing and the kids from the original comic have been adults for that whole time, so i feel like we've passed the point of the aging-up discourse even being relevant. also the epilogues were released in 2019, 6 years ago, which is almost the length of homestuck's original run.
personally, i dont see any reason to fret if youre writing/drawing two adults consensually having sex.
there are arguments to be made about some variations of this sentence (replacing/removing adults & consensually) that i wont remotely get close but ill say if you see anything on the internet that makes you uncomfortable you should just block the poster and move on w/ your day.
