Not sure where to post this hopefully this is appropriate.
So I, as well as many others here I assume, have never truly experienced forum culture. Especially not the kind that was around when MSPA was first being run. I find it to be very interesting and always found it fascinating when watching internet history videos that discuss it. Whether it be Justin Whang or someone recounting a SomethingAwful thread. It feels strange to see it being revived in this way but also really cool. After all big mega companies like Discord enshittifying themselves and being very anti consumer can make alternatives like this very appealing. Of course I wouldn't kid myself into thinking that we could ever recreate what it was like, after all everything we do is colored by the past and just the knowledge that it was a unique thing compared to now changes the entire dynamic of it. I mean that's part of why I grew attached to Homestuck in the first place, it was a true time capsule of an era that was observed and put into a story about it. The internet changes faster than anything else we have ever seen in human history and even trying to come close to trying to put ourselves in the shoes of our digital ancestors, some of whom may still be around, is a strange experience. I haven't posted on here or been lurking that much since I first found out about this place, mostly because of shyness since each post is a post but that's a personal thing. Am I the only one who feels this way? Have I overthought this while you may or may not have just been like "oh a place to post cool" without thinking of the broader cultural context of what it is we are doing here? Obviously forums still exist, they never went away, but not to the same extent they once were as our communication and social presence becomes more and more centralized with things like Instagram and Reddiit and Discord etc.
I don't know what to put here. (Original I know)
