Hey, hey you. Yes, you. You like trolls right? Maybe a cherub once in a while? Theres a new thing but this isn't about any of those.
Lookit these, I made them, they're not any of those things. These are thrones, they're a fanspecies.
There's a lot of fanspecies out there. Most of them I didn't make. That's fine though because I already know about the ones I made.
I want to hear about the ones you made. Tell me about your fanspecies please please please please please.

Haven't drawn them yet, but I'm working on a fishy species that live on the planet Xiphactinus and its moon, Gillicus. Xiphactinus is a mostly water planet with sparse islands and continents, and Gillicus is Space Britain™. Instead of a hemospectrum Xiphactians and Gillicans dislike each other despite being the same species. Xiphactians just thing that living on a land-based celestial body is for wimps, and vice versa. They also get colonized by some trolls. Figures.
I have a drawing of the planet itself, though.
r3Ad my slOp!!! https://mspfa.com/?s=63750&p=1
there were a few used by an old rp group of mine I wish I knew where most of that stuff went. The easiest remnant I can find is art of a character of an axolotl based species I made back in 2014 on tumblr. iirc it was a collaborative thing and each person got to design a (sub?)species for a specific biome... She was the princess of the underwater kingdom and used magic bubbles to travel outside of the water.... I remember them being very peaceful and idealistic to contrast someone else's more aggressive species..
I gotta dig around some more for this stuff
I love dwarves!!
Specifically, Dwergari, my original species, I really enjoy working on and I have a HUGE world built for them.
I used to have an MSPFA featuring dwarves, but it's since gone inactive, although I intend to bring another one into existence solely focusing on them and their world.
They hail from planet Ivaldi, a world split up into 4 continents with different kinds of climates, and each continent containing some kind of magical artifact which the dwarves use in their everyday technology. Although their world is quite fantasy-adjacent, they themselves don't really use magic directly and are more like artificers; creating objects that are imbued with ethereal elements that they can use. You'd see a dwarf taking a flamethrower into battle before you ever see one casting a spell lol.
I definitely plan to update their entry in the Fanspecies wiki but for now, it's fun to work on them in my own time and I hope they can turn out to be one of my most developed fictional species I've ever worked on.
Excited to see what other species people here post about too!!
I've got a few! Phosphors, Lumith, Cheshire, Nycteris, Psiikhe, Wolpasters, Crocottas, Raymefah, Wight, and Molluskin!
Here's an example of a phosphor! I'd post images of all my other species but i don't want to take up too much space and it won't let me put the images right next to each other ^^;
Can't wait to see/hear about other people's species!
re: Tzubo
I'm love how both the planet and the moon probably have the same area of landmass, just different amounts of water. when you have a look for the species I'd love to see :3
re: Autumn
Same with you!! If you can find anything about them please update because that sounds really fun! I'm late getting to the fanspecies scene (started actually making a community for us in 2020) so I missed out on a lot of Early Fandom fanspecies.
"Completely Wrong Game" is still a good read despite being inactive, and Lepio's also got a fanspecies adventure I recommend, "As It Was Ordained?"

Realized i could just make a compilation image of all my species so here's that. I'd go back an edit my original post but i don't see an edit button anywhere 😔
First row: Phosphor, Lumith, Nycteris, Cheshire
Second row: Psiikhe, Wolpaster twins, Crocotta
Third row: Raymefah, Wight, Molluskin
Here are my drows.
(The base is free to use btw, if it’s crunched up, blame my ipad. let me know.)

I’m gonna need to post about my sirens and faespr here but I’m tired and unable to formulate my thoughts in a proper manner.

I don't have any art for them but I figure with the most recent HSBC update now is the perfect time to share mine!
I have a very-very-very-in-development fanventure tentatively called 'SGrub Adventure 2: Battle'. The game/adventure follows a typical cast of a dozen trolls, but the game they're playing is a fake and the world they live in is basically within the Medium of a very ancient session.
That ancient session hosts my fanspecies! Tentatively called pixies, there are six 'castes' (though they are largely non-hierarchical), each represented by a different character. The vibe of the species and setting is neo-Gothic (if it were described by someone who skimmed the Wikipedia page) and randomly loaded with references to N64 Zelda games. Its implied that they were a species Rose was working on before we got to the nymphs. Below is their creation myth, which delineates the six types in bold and implies some mythological connection to the Dirk/Rose/Terezi crew.
In the beginning, the Author was tasked by her father, the Puppet-master, to write for him a new play. And so the Author wrote of Fables. Every aspect of our anatomy were devised in the Author's image; oily black surfaces, writhing limbs, innumerable mouths, eyes, and teeth. The Author looked on what she had made with pride.
When the Puppet-master set his eyes on us he weighed our fates in his heart. Now, the Puppet-master loved the Author very much, and her creations were always his most favorite. But, there was no role in his stage for us. Disappointed, the Author complied with her duties and cast us away.
Our figures stagnated in the dark for eons before light found us again. The Lawmaker, appointed sentry among our creators, saw us through the fog and shadow. Lungs boiling with rage, the Lawmaker's red glare darted between her discovery and her counterparts.
The Lawmaker wanted to impose justice and punish her counterparts. She wanted to watch as they were rendered to flame, then to ash, then to soil.
Though the Lawmaker came before her counterparts, the Puppet-master and the Author were exponentially more powerful. Knowing she couldn't defend us from our creators, the Lawmaker sought to free us. With the pixies in her clutches, she flapped her great, squamous wings and careered us across reality. We were carried through the cosmos, our savior weaving in and out of its edges. Eventually, she stopped, and breathed out our sun. Then, the Lawmaker bore a vast dragon's egg and set it to be our home.
She set the heaviest pixie first, on the edge of the forest. As it found ground, its shape compressed with the atmosphere, with only fiber and horn from the past to remain. The sharpest one of us the Lawmaker dropped in the flatlands. Its blades dulled and barrels shortened as carcasses from the land were woven around its new bones. The wayfarer among us was let go in the swamps; its thousandfold arms constricted into scales and chitin and earth. She loosed the shrewdest one of us in the dark marshes. Its countless perceptive senses turned inward, plunging into less tangible realities. The strangest one of us was discharged along the way, its body scattered piecemeal around the face of Germina. Finally, the Lawmaker released the most beautiful one of us on the mountaintops. Its iridescent appendages shrank as its allure twisted into illusion and veneer. To this one, she passed down her ability to weave memory, so that they may unite us throughout conflict and rule us with impartial reality.
Exhausted, the Lawmaker, our savior, our First Dragon, returned to her post.
Not a ton of physical description because each of the types of Pixie look vastly different, other than usually being humanoid in shape. Some more tidbits:
- Rather than aging, the pixies' biological tissue constantly grows and hardens. They can be killed, however.
- Rather than bleeding, a pixie's wound will emit a mimicry that is different for each individual, or 'shedsound'. I.e., a warrior pixie's shedsound would be the roar of battle.
- Some decades ago, the planet's orange-red sun was supernaturally changed to purple. Under the purple sun, pixies' tissue would grow and harden rapidly and they would lose control of themselves. They also become incredibly hard to kill with these traits, so there were years of disaster before the societal survivors built underground cities to avoid the constant ever-growing horrorterror-esque kaiju.
- Also because I'm proud of these, the name of the six player pixies are: Oils Anoint, Your Majesty, Hunt Safely, Just Turned, Grim Future, and Dust Settles!
You know all of my species well.
@June EB Whoa that sounds really cool, i love how you wrote the creation myth. Count me interested whenever you're able to create that adventure!
