I've noticed a lot of posts on here focus on a specific media, but I'm a huuuge cinephile and I would really love to hear about films you all have recently seen, whether they're new or not, and maybe get some recommendations to add to my watchlist.

Some recent-ish movies I really enjoyed were Castration Movie I and Together, the latter of which I saw in theaters. Other favorites of mine I rewatch from time to time are Perfect Blue and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, if that gives you any idea of the stuff I like.

It;s always nice to see more Cinephiles here, some recent movies I loved recently were The Phoenician Scheme and Thunderbolts*, but some of my absolute favorites from previous years are I Saw The TV Glow, Arrival, and Whiplash, (The Phoenician Scheme also fits in this top 4, but i already mentioned it.)

Hiya. Just a random question, but you know what a majority vote is?

I saw War of the Worlds and my God. It's an overstimulating mess, but I laughed at every bit. It's trying so hard to be serious yet, it fails miserably. I think everyone should give it a read. Regardless if they like good movies or bad ones.

Give my story a read, please.

RE: Halluirium, my condolences for what happened to you. I don't know who in your life hurt you so much that you think subjecting other people to that advertisement is justifiable, but i hope you can heal from the harm done to you. /j /lh

if you’re crlazy about movies, you’ll be crazy about Stalker. plan an intermission with your friends, and get ready for really long weird silences and a film with its own cinematographic language. so fucking cool.

it’s not exactly recent, but I just got around to seeing both A Clockwork Orange and the Shawshank Redemption. both were excellent, especially the latter. one of the most emotionally fulfilling movies I’ve ever see.

I just watched Crumb(1994) the documentary about the infamous sex-obsessed comic artist from the 60s. I recommend it to all Caliborn/Lord English fans, if anyone would be interested in a story about a man/child using his power over the canvas to create the most sexually depraved images he could muster, then it would be them.

I just saw Weapons and I can't stop think about it. The framing device makes what could have been a somewhat standard horror movie into something really engaging and interesting. I also saw Together a little while ago, and it was really enjoyable. If you like good body horror effects I would recommend it.

got a feeling i will be talking here a lot :)
so to start off i finally got around to watching 12 angry men and man what can i say that hasn't been said? anyway favourite men were 8, 9 and 11.
on the 8th i went to see weapons and in terms of horror it's my favourite one ever and my second favourite outside of sinners, this and Barbarian shows that Zach Cregger has this down to a science

Re: calvin, the1woomy

I've been meaning to watch The Phoenecian Scheme, I wanted to see it in theaters but missed the window. I did watch The Royal Tenenbaums and Asteroid City in its stead while waiting for it to come out and they were both really fucking good, I love Wes Anderson as a director and think he has a really unique style. I'm excited to see The Phoenecian Scheme and especially see Michael Cera in it, I've heard great things about it.

Re: slothArmy

Oh, God, everyone's been talking about how good Weapons was. I've been a huge horror buff for years so I'm extremely picky and critical but I hope it lives up to the hype, I might try to see it in theaters soon if I get the chance. Seeing horror films in theaters is just the best fuckin experience, there seems to be a lot of intriguing upcoming ones.

I also saw the Phoenician Scheme when it came out and I really enjoyed it. I've seen a lot of people complain that Wes Anderson's style is becoming like a parody of itself, and while it is getting pretty extreme, I also feel like it is getting more focused on adding to the themes and mood of his films, so I don't really mind it.

On a more Homestuck-adjacent note, I just watched Armageddon for the first time and it was very fun and incredibly stupid. Genuinely up there as one of the dumbest movies I have ever seen (not counting things like Freddy Got Fingered which I'm pretty sure are dumb on purpose or complete cash grabs like Disaster Movie). This was a genuine work of passion full of cheesy one-liners, terrible science, confused politics, and Ben Affleck. Highly recommended to anyone who likes Con Air. It doesn't have Nic Cage, but it almost makes up for it by being inexplicably two and a half hours long.

Watched another movie today, The Final Destination. I don't know why I watched this one, because i knew going in it would fucking suck, and I didn't really gain anything from watching it.
