a long time ago, 10 years to be precise, there was a website created by the name of flarping.com.
the premise of the site was a roleplaying social media site where you created a sort of myspace-esque page for your character, made status posts, replied to your friends posts, dmed back and forth in character. flarping started as a site for homestucks, but as more and more profiles were made from different fandoms, the site eventually shifted to hivetale.com! (sort of like the msparp -> mxrp transition)
the wayback machine only has screenshots of the login page, which looked like this:
apparently the site got a revive in 2018 (which i'd love to hear about too!) i had no idea about! it's since died again.
hivetale.com has maaany more screenshots, nothing that i could find of actual threads. the home page looked like this, pretty standard form posting from account in character that shared interactions with each other.
anyways!!! i was wondering if anyone used either of these sites and if this was a blast from the past! i'd love to hear any stories you might have! whenever the topic of homestuck and roleplay comes up in conversation, i always bring up flarping.com just in case. but no one ever knows what i'm talking about or enjoyed this little community while it was around in 2015!
oh my god what a blast from the past! i haven't thought about flarping in aaaaages. i was on that and msparp all the time when i was but a spring chicken with light in my eyes and a spring in my step. i think back on flarping i was in like a humanstuck group and i believe i was mechanic sollux?? for some reason? honestly though most of my time there has been lost to the sands of time
omg hell yeah I had a blast on flarping as my fantroll Braxas Archon... easily a highlight of my time in the Homestuck fandom. that was really 10 years ago huh? crazy to think that must mean some people I met thru Homestuck are also 10-year friendships!!
