Gio's article is not at all about what people seem to think it is about.

I'm honestly so shocked to see how many people are writing off Gio's claims and acting like Hussie can do no wrong, or if they do, it's justified. I think it is in part easy to write off because of the title of Gio's article - in my opinion, this story is not particularly about the UHC being taken down (and when framed that way, the assertion is made, rightly, that it's still accessible and also Gio sucks, end of story).

This is a story of Andrew Hussie's entitlement toward the creative work of others, stretching all the way back to the early days. This is a story of how Andrew Hussie behaves when not able to control the behavior of others. This is a story among far too many of Andrew Hussie's continual weaponization of legal maneuvers to manipulate people. And in fact, it sure sounds to me like part of Gio's assertions of Hussie's shady behavior has already been confirmed in Miles' statement, where he said:

"gio was Not trying everything he could to make this work, because by his own admission in the article he refused to sign a license to continue to publish the Entirety Of A Body Of Work That Didn’t Belong To Him, and i also strongly suspect did everything in his power to dissuade bambosh from licensing when it was bambosh andrew was doing the initial negotiating with, Precisely Because We Were Worried About Situations Like This.  at the time i actually thought that was TOO paranoid, believe it or not, but holy shit was i wrong about that, lol."

From Gio's article - In the messages from Miles during the early communication, Miles says that after giving Bambosh the NDA and a private conversation between them and Andrew, Gio would also receive an NDA and have a similar conversation, sort of an interview before the negotiations began. If it is true that no NDA was presented to Gio and Gio was not stalling, this was just an excuse to get Bambosh alone and not have to deal with Gio. Sure sounds like it tracks, at least to me. They cornered Bambosh, tried to only work with him and cut Gio out of the deal while weaponizing legal documents to do so. The NDA/non-NDA dynamic between Bambosh and Gio meant that they could not discuss the negotiations between them, and Bambosh then left the project.

Please don't think that just because Gio's article is dramatic, that it's not credible. To be honest, if I had been jerked around that much for that long I'd be pretty uncharitable too. The most credible part to me is how familiar it sounds. I know people are discrediting Gio and calling them biased...well, everyone has bias - I think it'd be worse had Gio pretended to not feel the way they feel about things at this point. The idea that language used with regards to abusive relationships is overblown - divide and conquer and DARVO are very real tactics people use to have power over others in many situations, like in cases of medical or financial abuse. Domestic violence is not the only arena in which these things happen.

Finally, I personally am not only interested in how Andrew Hussie treats their friends. I'm far more interested in how they treat people they don't respect. And the answer is...extraordinarily poorly and unprofessionally.

we don't think Hussie can do no wrong, most of us are well aware Hussie has done much wrong, the issue is that Gio has ADMITTED his fucking goal in life is to slander Hussie as much as possible and he is very clearly doing his best to put hussie in a position where hussie would have to betray his employees to refute these callout posts in an incredibly unprofessional way. Hussie was entirely within his purview to demand Gio take down the shitty callout posts about them that were filled with bullshit and speculations and it's insane that people are demanding a play by play naming names within this PROFESSIONAL COMPANY so they can harass the 'person responsible' off the internet.

i'm sorry but can someone tell me what the creative work of hosting someone else's entire body of work is?

Like, the actual fan creators are part of FRAF, with their license to monetize, and promoted alongside the main comic. The guy who was hosting Hussie's work and doing no creative work of his own though, claims that Hussie wants to control fan creators? When all the actual fan creators don't have a problem? idk, just very interesting

Have you ever actually read the articles? I have. It is not slander or libel. It is a timeline of events based on publicly available information. If it was libel, why hasn't Hussie sued to get them taken down? Or even responded to most of the claims in them? Character assassination is not refutation of Gio's claims. Whether Gio is a good person is irrelevant to me. I want to hear why what he is saying is untrue.

lyrichartwell - in the very beginning of the article, Gio straight up says that the asset pack of the reader does not belong to him. He does not contest this.

this isn't worth engaging with, especially since this is far and beyond a duplicate thread. if OP wants answers to this, they can go through the other discussions that have been had.

"It's not slander or libel, it's a timeline of the events based on publicly available information" Did you not read my post? Also if Hussie sued a small creator for this you're telling me you'd be fine with that but you're NOT fine with legal THREATS? Like. Come the fuck on I wasn't born yesterday.

Squiddo - The threat of DMCAing the UHC unless Gio recants perfectly legal statements of how event surrounding hiveswap unfolded is not a normal legal interaction. Hussie has no legal right to ask Gio to take them down. Again, if they did, if it was libel, they would have sorted it out in court already.

"creative work of others" what creative work did gio do, all he did is host the collection! bambush wrote it, hussie wrote everything in it. also again can we just be logical people and look at gio accusing miles of domestic abuse and throw the whole article out

'its not normal for a creator to take someone to court for this, also they should have already taken them to court for this' Are you stupid?

Glad you asked, Sylvia. The UHC is in two parts - the reader, and the asset pack which contains homestuck. Bambosh and Gio collaborated on creating the reader for the files, so homestuck could be read.

hey i know this is kinda off topic but according to your profile its your birthday and is this really how you want to spend it? arguing with people on a forum over the correct reading of a blog post thats so long its an absolute slog to go through? You gotta have something, anything better to do yea?

So did someone post in the discord or the reddit about how the forum is dunking on Gio? Why are you here?

1. oh shit happy birthday
2. come on thats not a real argument, like for one that collabortion only happened after the reader was written, if any coding happened on gios part it was purely in the realm of updates, but like, the reader is dependant on the asset pack, it in fact does not run without the asset pack, so yes the true premise that only the asset pack belongs to hussie is reasonable, but the reader does not meaningfully exist without the asset pack, theyre only split up because one is like a shit ton of gigs and ones a little chromium program so its easier to download that way

Sylvia - In a legal sense Hussie has no claim to the reader, regardless. It does not contain in itself Hussie's work.

If hussie has no claim to the reader why did Gio take it down?

Squiddo
Wednesday, August 13th, 2025, 7:15 PM21 days ago

Because he was being threatened legally and Hussie has way more resources for legal fees than he does? People with more money can take people to court and win even if they are not on the right side of things. I won't insult your intelligence by thinking this is a new concept for you.

ok question do you have proof hussie ever has tried to claim thhe reader? hussie attempted to partner with the maker(s) of the reader, and then dmcad the assett pack, from this(flawed might i add id have to check but i do remember some legal precendence otherwise) you seem to be implying hussie specifically targeted the reader, and not gio's website as a whole which notably featured the asset pack
