i have no idea how many people are even aware of homestuck at my school but i do know there are some because someone wrote "homestuck mentioned" below a drawing of sollux i drew on a whiteboard, and someone made a sharpie bath joke after i mentioned that i cosplayed a homestuck character once.
I don't think you would be the first, but you two are without a doubt the bravest people I know now. I had cosplayed as my aspect (heir of space) when I was still in high school (I'm so old :( ), and only about 5 people even knew what it was, so I never could have made a club. If anyone is wondering, I still have the cowl from the cosplay; it's nice to have because it's really warm. 
A Homestuck school club in 2025 is how the world starts healing.

I inherited a cosplay club that sort of evolved into a Homestuck club, just because everyone got really into it for a while. We're diversifying again, which is nice....
