excited for new fans honestly I don't think it'll be as terrible as everyone thinks it will be. I actually think it will be quite funny seeing people go have ship wars over this and that, people getting spoiled on a 15 year old comic, and then not knowing how what they got spoiled on even happens (Imagine telling someone who likes Dave now bc of the animated show that he becomes a robot due to Obama. That'd blow their mind)

i personally always like it when new people get into the things i like. it's fun to have more people to discuss things with.

There's gonna be cringe people and people who don't get things or overstep bounds, but like. Can't gatekeep a fandom anyways so better to have more people than less.

for real: i think this will be Scary but i am excited for new blood orwhatever. maybe there will be new homestuck cosplayers amok... many a unsealed grey paint or perhaps even a sopors pie.

a day where homestuck fans don't really engage with the comic as is, that's just another day. a rising tide raises all ships, and homestuck is................................................................ good

i really hope folks don't try to gatekeep. new fans is great, presumably we're all here bc we love this story, and i personally like when more people experience a story i love.

i dont think any new fan coasting in from the pilot is gonna be significantly worse than any unfortunate miserable person that Ive experienced in my uhhh 14 years as of last month time in this fandom. or in any fandom really. all fandoms the same, whichever one is seen as being "the worst" at any given time is just because its new/popular/saturated so you hear about it more

I feel like theres gonna be a lot of people trying out the comic for the first time then dropping it after less than an hour due to the difference in pacing between the animation and the webcomic... or maybe theres gonna be a lot of new fans who wont bother with reading at all ^^"

concerns of bad apples, people who don't get it, and general fandom dregs aren't really all that significant if you know how to cultivate an circle of peers whose thoughts, opinions, and ideas you respect and acknowledge.

you can't be called a gatekeeper if you do this as well because you're not really stopping anyway from discussing the particular object of devotion.

Anytime it seems like this comic will die, it just comes back stronger, and stronger, and stronger.

Homestuck will always end up belonging to online, nerdy teens. When I was a kid, it felt like every teenager was into it; when I was a teenager, it felt like all my peers were into it; and now having just become an adult, I'm watching the next wave of pubescent dorks take it over. It's really beautiful, to be honest with you. I hope that never changes, even as Homestuck goes on to take new forms itself to reach those new audiences.

Hey, at least the anime-onlies are going to be a population of new fans who haven't had other fans trying to convince them the Epilogues are bad for the past six years. That's already a massive improvement over the status quo.

Yeah honestly, the new blood is going to be pretty fun. New fan content, new fanventures, new fantrolls, etc. And while there's people doomposting about "all the cringe teens are going to join my niche fandom!!!", it's homestuck-- a fandom BUILT off of cringe teens obsessing over fictional cringe teens doing cringe teen things on a journey of self-realization, maturation, gags, goofs, and kickass fight scenes. (WHAT SCARES ME MORE ARE THE CONTENT FARMS THAT PREY ON INDIE ANIMATION, WE'RE GONNA SEE A WAVE OF HOMESTUCK-RELATED CONTENT FARM SLOP PROBABLY!!!)
