Some Homestuck characters are mentally ill. Some readers are mentally ill and picture characters as such. Tell me. Tell me now.
I personally believe that Dave and Dirk both have OCD. I think Dirk also struggles with Dermatillomania, better known as skin picking. That man has so much acne and scars.
I also believe that Karkat, John, and Spades Slick have Autism.
A lot of characters seem to have Depression (Davesprite, Rose, Jade, John, Sollux, Karkat, Kanaya, Terezi) and PTSD (Davesprite, Vriska for certain, WV, AR, Spades Slick). There are plenty more. Share with me the more.

to me most of them are autistic & have C-PTSD. more specifically i'm a big believer in jane having OCD with really intense intrusive thoughts, both violent and sexual. i also really like jade being a system.
Everybody needs to hear someone say “Nobody else will do. It has to be you", even if it's just once in their lives. As long as you can feel sure those words were sincere, you can live through anything, no matter how painful.

Sollux is described as bipolar in his introduction page. I don't know at the time if Hussie was really thinking about BPD and what it means vs just using it as an adjective outside of its medical context. But I think it's valuable to read his later appearances with it in mind.
edit: BPD does not stand for bipolar disorder, my bad.
i have quite a few headcanons but in particular ive always imagined latula having OCD (based on one of her conversations in meenahquest), StPD jade, and TBI & DpDr jake.

As someone with autism, I like to connect with characters that I perceive to be autistic, even though I don't know of many characters in any media who are both canonically autistic and done well.
I feel like I can definitely see Nepeta on the spectrum, but I've seen people make some intriguing stories and cases on Karkat, Dirk, Aradia, Tavros, even Equius on there too, and I'm all for seeing autism headcanons in media lol.
I feel like Roxy, Vriska, and Jake give ADHD.
A lot of this is a mix of personal headcanons and well done fanfictions other people have made that I think are interesting to think about.
I don't have any comments on other neurodivergencies or such since I'm not quite sure I should speak on things I don't personally have lol.

I've always perceived both Striders as schizophrenic - it's their particular flavoring of what other people would attribute to ASD or ADHD (of which schizophrenia tends to share a nearly identical list of symptoms with) to me.. There's a certain je ne sais quoi about them. I know it's their personae, but maybe it's the flat affect? And the way Dave tends to structure his sentences and natter on is reminiscent of disorganized thinking and speech to me.
In my beautiful mind karkat has ocd. And caliborn alongside calliope have autism, just the complete opposite version of autism that the other has.
@december Oh my god that makes so much sense. Thinking about Detective Pony in particular, like, that feels uniquely schizophrenic as a work of art in terms of what does it take from Dirk to author something like this.
also i want to add john has mdd. but i believe from the very start of homestuck. yes page 1. it just became more apparent later on

i have way too many and not enough properly jotted down so i also like. forgot half of them. but the headcanon that is most important to me is karkat having autism. i got diagnosed either halfway through reading homestuck or shortly after finishing it and the first thing i did after the fact was declare to my friends that karkat is autistic LOL. i relate to him a lot so projection is inevitable, a lot of his traits like having shit emotional regulation and being bad at communicating/forming proper healthy relationships or even his dislike of Going Outside (mostly in the epilogues, sensitivity to light even) read as autistic to me, even if some of them can be explained away via troll societal reasons
