How are we feeling about this recent event…?

Okay so. There's a lot of posts saying stuff like this so I'm just going to say: 1. Hussie didnt take uhc down, gio did, he just worded it specifically so it seemed ambiguous, and also the UHC isnt actually gone, its still totally available for download !! Not blaming you at all op, people are spreading lots of misinformation it's bound to get around

hussie is a bum and nothing can make me like him as a person or defend him super hard but gio is not a reliable person from his history and with that 2nd article about the hicu being some sort of conspiracy "puppet organization to control the homestuck ip". i honestly just reccomend reading it and then miles' statement to come to your own conclusion.

A lot of important information about the situation isn't released, so jumping to conclusions at this point in time will only spread misinformation. You don't have to agree with A.H or their actions but it's important to remember that there are still a lot of moving parts to this drama and unreliable information floating around so now it not the time to be sending unwarranted hate towards anyone.

Did u read the part of homestuck with the dancestors? The man made a pitstop in his own webcomic to make fun of his fans for way too long by creating like 12 characters that were all obvious caricatures of his fanbase lol if that isnt hatred what is

I've read Homestuck many times, I know my shit. I also know that the Dancestors part is a part of Homestuck Andrew regrets even putting in there. I also wonder if you read the part of Homestuck where Calliope receives the Ring of Life and gets to live and live with all her friends and be happy? Because if that's not love what is.

See you say that about the dancestors but what about his obsession in comic with Vriska, ya know stalking and wanting to marry the 13 year old and then making a literal lolicon argument saying how shes "probably been alive for hundreds of years" in the dream bubbles at the end of openbound 3? That obsession doesn't seem to have wavered, one of the only two things Hussie insisted on being in Beyond Canon was Helltier Vriska, even to this day he still seems obsessed with her. This shit is beyond(canon) creepy imo, he made himself a pedophile IN HIS OWN COMIC.

Ah yes, the joke... pedophilia, fantastic humor. The dancestors? also just a joke, its just pedophilia ya know, no big deal. Doc Scratch? Simply jesting about grooming, as you do. The whole point is people don't really find this shit funny anymore, and its sure as hell isn't like Hussie apologized for those weird choices.

Also, "that's why he kept making her important" doesnt actually make any sense, compared to other characters pre act 6 that isnt really even true, for sure she does alot of impactful things and has a decent amount of screentime, but nowhere on the level of Karkat, John, Jade, Dave or Rose.

I swear the things you people have to say to keep defending this guy will never stop baffling me.

the joke wasn't "oh pedophilia is funny", and putting doc scratch along "jokes about pedophilia you find distasteful" is very strange considering doc scratch is explicitly a villain and him grooming these kids is very much a bad thing and a variation on the theme of caliborn's misogyny. like, in a webcomic largely based around a group of kids with unrestricted internet it makes perfect sense to address the elephant in the room when it comes to being a kid (especially a girl) with unrestricted internet access, i.e. online grooming. reducing his role in the story to "jesting about grooming" is just a gross misrepresentation of what the comic actually does with him.

as for the hussie vriska joke, i personally also find it kind of distasteful and not a very good choice in terms of execution, but like, the joke is clearly a criticism of the people who were saying hussie was obsessed with vriska. "you're so obsessed with her you might as well marry her!" is a common line to just throw out light-heartedly, and so the best way to demonstrate what's actually wrong with it is to just literally put it in the comic and make it obvious how actually creepy this concept is, and why it's incredibly weird to say "the grown author is just in love with their thirteen year old character because they keep putting her into focus".

and it's just not true that nobody said this, it's easy to look at the comic nowadays and objectively see that plenty of other characters are given a lot of focus too, but that's largely because vriscourse died down and she's nowhere near the controversial character she was. back in the day people would froth at the mouth saying hussie gives vriska way too much slack and it's because of favoritism. hell, even now if you look for people who argue that vriska is a terrible person who got off too easy in the comic you'll find the take that vriska tormenting tavros was in the comic because "hussie has a fetish for seeing women tormenting weak men".

this is why i personally find the joke a bad choice within the story, because with context it's already uncomfortable, and without context of the culture around vriska as a character at the time it reads HORRIBLY. but saying that hussie put that joke in because she truly is a weird pervert is just disingenuous.

unfortunately (for some) homestuck is an exercise in bad taste. this is why i like it

people who got mad about the dumb vriska joke are genuinely just looking for reasons to be mad. It came from a forum joke. Same with fat vriska. Is it fatphobic? Sure. But it's also almost a decade since the last homestuck update and people have lost context for things that at the time weren't even considered slightly offensive jokes.

It's also funny to me because if you really wanna get mad at a weird character with pedophilic undertones go be mad about damara????? she's RIGHT there
