Is it fun? Do you think that the webforum format is a good one for fostering discussion among individuals of common interests and diverse backgrounds? Please leave your answer in the form of a post.
This post was a Magic Mirror production. Problem Soothe, now playing in a theater near you: https://magic-mirror.neocities.org/problemsoothe/ps0000

i was born on the forums. this is a welcome return for me.
I've never used a fourm like this before FRAF, but i have to say i truly love this.
Hiya. Just a random question, but you know what a majority vote is?
sitting around on a forum all day? golly goshers i feel 15 years younger
(but also uh. i do think i may be. spending a bit too much time here. like all the pent up forum posting energy has been building and exploded out)
this is the first time ive ever gotten into using a forum and i like this so far
check me out at acetyzias.tumblr.com and acelad.crockercorp.com on bsky
I think it's a 50/50. I've definitely been around really nice forums with great people and then you have like top threads of really heated people arguing amongst each other for hours (this does not apply to FRAF I think everyone here on FRAF is very swell). It definitely can get a discussion going that's for sure.
Just patiently waiting for them to add the ability to @ other people lol
It's honestly some of the most fun I've had so far engaging with the Homestuck community! Honestly a lot of other socials I've used, old and new, often end up just feeling like places to lurk or to drop things off at. I enjoy being able to casually browse, discuss, and start up conversations, and overall I appreciate how friendly others can be here.
where am i how did i get here
I certainly get the feeling that I am back on a forum just making up silly posts all day long and chatting with people about whatever Homestuck related thing comes to my mind lol.
And I appreciate how nice a lot of people are because most people elsewhere will insult your entire bloodline for even having a slightly different opinion than you do. And the moderators aren't so heavy handed that it feels like walking on eggshells. I've left past forums before because moderation wouldn't let anyone breath and they'd just delete your post if they thought it was too divisive or whatever.
This has been so fun! Although, I think I may be developing a fixation in checking the forums constantly now <_< But that's okay, it gives me something to do before my university semester starts rip.
I like reading others' posts even if I have nothing to contribute to the conversation.
Other than using the Fandom website years ago, I never really interacted with a proper forum, so this is cool. It's especially cool for me to be one of the first peoples to join the website at the very beginning. I'm excited to see this website evolve with my own eyes!!!!

i've been using forums for a bit over a year now but fraf has definitely been an interesting change of pace; probably since a lot of people here are new to the discussion format.

ialready use the chicken smoothie + toyhouse forums somewhat regularly but this ones been my favorite so far. hope it stays up for a while
I love the formatting! It's not live updated like in a discord server or a messenger app, and every topic's roped off into its own chronologically-organized thread, so you can more easily keep on topic without everything being lost in the scroll. It makes you read more, and so I feel like I can be more verbose and creative with how I type, cause I know others will probably read through what I have to say with more attention. And if I or they want to respond, everything's right there to reference. You can have like an actual personality here instead of just trying to type something that will give you more upvotes or stand out in a long scrolling wall of messages!
If I could offer any critique, it would be to have more things that would add to the personalization - like please make signatures bigger or give a toggleable option to have them display fully without the little scroll bar; i want to see all the cool art and jokes, annoyingly large and all. rofl. And some other stuff like a quote feature for other posts, and some other markdown things like lists or posting video links/embeds. Oh and spoilering stuff! That feels like it'd be SUPER important with all the new fans coming in from the pilot!!
Sadly never got to use forums/never got the hang of it at a younger age, but talking about things i like is fun! And its homestuck! Also really fun to see other peoples opinions in a more, less twitter environment. Hoping we dont explode!

i definitely miss the vibes of forums soooo much. (i used to be a staunch gaiaonline user LOL) I think me, personally, I prefer the internet experience of forums where it feels more like i'm passing by, i leave a little comment, and be on my way. (ig that's also why i prefer tumblr bc it's a bit more "indirect" interaction that way)
twitter feels like i'm barging into someone's front door to say something, and discord feels like being crammed in the world's largest group chat... (and discord servers are just not as accessible imo 😭) Maybe i'm just a shy person or just too used to old internet, but these common social medias don't make me feel as inclined to use them to find community AKSJDSA.
Using the FRAF forums recently have really brought back the feeling of what i've loved about the internet back then that i've been missing so much tbh.
also to answer your question, yes! i think forums makes for a much more easygoing hub of discussion for ppl of like-minded interests to gather, it's feels like a nice balance of both community and an easygoing pace!
This is my first time really using a forum, and I love it so far. I've found social media communities to either make me feel like shit whenever I use them or just not interest me at all, but I've been having a great time here. Also even with all of this discourse going on and even with it getting quite bad in a lot of places here, it is still so much better than anywhere else which just seems to be a constant pit of negativity where once you're in you can't really get out until every stops caring. Here it feels like you can engage but still easily step away when you need to. Really bad timing for these forums in a lot of ways, but it has also definitely convinced me to stay on here.
it's been a long long time since i've been an active user on a forum. the feeling is akin to finding your favorite pair of underwear that you thought were gone forever but were actually just wedged between your dryer and the wall for the last three years, and when you excitedly put them on (even though you probably should wash them again because they're covered in cobwebs and lint) they still fit just right and provide the exact combination of comfort, breathability and form fitting-ness that none of your other inferior undergarments can match. i guess what i'm trying to say is that forums are like underwear.
also, like others have said i will jump for joy and perhaps do a backflip once i can @ and/or otherwise reply directly to people.
I feel like I missed out on the forum craze so.. This makes me feel so damn happy. I get to participate in this really cool thing where I can talk with random people and do silly things for fun. It's lovely and all of you are lovely and I am Chris A. and I am joyous.
