how many curses are there in homestuck pilot?

i think there's less than in the comic, but they are a lot more noticeable

well they took out the slurs, so what else are they going to replace that with? /j

I checked all of Act I and Act II, John doesn't say fuck throughout any of his pesterlogs. Could have missed 1. Did find a "horse's ass" though.

They replaced all the slurs with swear words so there's gotta be quite a few! Dave won't be racist in current day, lol. I like the subtle dig at someone who wasn't even involved when the original comic contains like... every slur ever made. Would you have preferred Dave say racial slurs? Of course they're going to replace that with something still punchy but not likely to get the pilot taken down by YouTube. Hussie wrote the pilot, we should all be grateful there's less HORSES than swears, if anything

the problem is not with the swear words themselfs, but with the ABUNDENCE of them.
i know it was andrew (and skye henwood) who wrote the pilot and not vivienne, but jesus christ, it's like he wants to fuck around with homestuck fans once again

DOES Dave say racial slurs outside of his blog? I'm not sure this is true. I'm also 100% sure that "the comic contains like every slur ever made" is so far away from true on any level that it's not even pedantic to dispute it.

not to be that guy but during one of his rap sessions he says an outdated version of the n slur. n-city. it is also the name of the song one of jack noir's leitmotifs is from (liquid n-city) which is just. Why.

Not being "that guy" at all, it's totally worth correcting me on - none of the "slur lists" I looked up for cursory double-checking noted it at all (though I was aware of the track title).

Honestly I'm fine with them giving slightly new takes on the characters, and I don't think having June awkwardly swear like a thirteen year old (which she is) is even that much of a departure from her character in the original. It fits the kind-of dorky person who pretty recently became old enough that they are starting to worry about being cool. I only really have a problem with an overabundance of swears when it seems pointless and forced, and in this case I feel it does have a purpose in informing the personality of this take on June.

I mean I have heard that hussie does write good in Homestuck when it comes to interactions but I feel like it sorta flopped when it was animated,plus I think most of the swearing from Dave strider sorta sounded like an annoying 5th grader trying to look cool
