I feel like this is kinda the only large community i can discuss homestuck in anymore.

If it makes you feel any better, I've noticed many people in the reddit at least have decided to push back against the insane angry mob that believes they were personally wronged in a situation that has nothing to do with them lol. I think it's just best to avoid whole echochambers like reddit when it comes to fandom, because if you went over there you'd think the worst had happened T_T We have no official statement from Homestuck if we ever will get one.

People will either stew in their anger or they can just move on with their lives and forget about it.

Yeah that's one of the reasons I wanted to make this Forum, to kind of serve as an alternative to how negative a lot of the other community spaces tend to be by building it with Fan Creators and their communities as its foundation. It's gone pretty well so far, we haven't been censoring anyone or anything despite what I've seen some people in other places claim, the people here are mostly just pretty chill which is kind of refreshing.

I haven’t been able to monitor the situation on other platforms, but from what I’ve heard I don’t really want to. I’m very grateful that the FRAF is a thing, and that it’s a place where we can avoid arguing for the most part.

it is genuinely quite a shame that the well is so poisoned in so many places but this has proven to be a nice place for people to be kind of levelheaded and chill about everything

yeah, i have definitely been avoiding using tumblr for this very reason. i just do not have the energy to try and argue about it in a place where i know nobody is gonna listen to what i have to say. im so grateful for fraf

I pretty much gave up pre FRAF on having Homestuck friends.Between the haters and the toxic side of things,I honestly can't remember the last HS interaction I had before the forum.Prolly don't help when the main group you have starts splintering and following apart.

I'll also say I'm not at all opposed to discourse existing in a place of discussion, and I think the discourse that we have had here has been all in all quite healthy and mature. Much more so than I've seen elsewhere.

The reason why the forums work is because threads actually encourage discussion and thought while social media platforms encourage people to tweet that Hussie is Hitler for likes/upvotes/reposts or whatever else.

discourse is genuinely good and healthy when it's actually discourse and not evil fake discourse

My favorite part of this discourse is seeing people on reddit make conspiracy theories about who is potentially in bad blood with who because of the pilot, and then those people are here on FRAF just hanging out with everyone and very much not in bad blood with anyone.

I think its really cool to just see some of the people who worked on Homestuck and other fanworks just respond to some forums or reply to me all chill and shit lol that's why I like this place I didn't even realize a day ago that I got to talk with the creator of Vast Error casually in a discussion thread until I looked at his user name T_T

exactly! this is the only site where i've really... TALKED to people a lot. i don't get that fear of "dude if i post this someone's gonna call me evil" that i get on some other places, it's really cool :D

I usually spend my time on the tgp discord but this is probably going to be a close second for homestuck stuff at this point

This forum is excellent, it makes it actually possible to engage with fandom in a somewhat healthy way! I'm so excited to see it grow and change, and I love the chance to build friendships and community here ^v^

honestly i've been having an alright time on tumblr! I think it'll just be waiting a bit for the shine to wear off for people rubbernecking on the situation (and as truth catches up to discourse). for some homestuck was cringe before and for some it has been the whole time. find your people who you can vibe with!

The forum has been lovely, genuinely its renewed my want to interact with the wider homestuck community. Its beautiful and glorious.

I've found this a good place to get away from all the "New stuff is automatically bad!!!!!" types who shout loudest in EVERY fandom I'm in. Like, it's a little hard to discuss Beyond Canon stuff around fans who believe to the core of their being that everything past Act 5 of Homestuck is Objectively Garbage, even if they haven't actually read it.

I super appreciate the space y'all have set up here. Looking forward to just having a casual place to goof off and talk about updates etc.
