I’m sick of people who only talk about the male characaters

unfortunately this will continue to be true across all fandoms forever as long as misogyny exists in this world. not much we can do abt it until we destroy the root of the issue.

love them or hate them, vriska serket and terezi pyrope are some of the best written characters in. like. fiction. i will always be a jade fanatic as well as a nepeta one. also i have a select couple of the male characters i think estrogen would fix.

(also this is me maybe being a bit petty but i hate how many of the male characters get woobified into quirky boys who do yaoi together. ill always have a thorn in my side about davekat being so fandom-dwarfingly huge, and i cannot imagine how cronus/kankri got as big as it did. engage with their flaws not just with what makes them blorboable)

Its going to happen forever unfortunately and we are seeing a new influx of it with Swiss in beyond canon, including people who outright ignore the bad shit a lot of these male characters do in favor of woobifying them (which honestly makes them more boring and less interesting to talk about but people do it anyway)

Vriska is one of the best written characters ever and gets talked about a lot at least.

ngl the concept of a horsey hooved species is pretty cool but if Swiss is anything to go by they are all groyper chud warriors unfortunately. if only dirk didn’t make them. le siiiiiign ;/

related to what I was saying before tho can you imagine what a roxy or even a dave created species would be like? crazy.

thats what happens when you introduce a blonde twink into your story, especially one so closely related to the striders. the one thing we know about him is that he buys wholeheartedly into dirks warriormale ubermensch utopia society and that single trait is already getting erased because hes also cute. sigh. i trust homestucks team to handle it with tact of course but i also hope swissfever dies down soon and people start actually analyzing and engaging.

(though i imagine its in a similar way to how humans are 'exclusively hetero' and trolls are 'exclusively bi' despite there being evidence to contradict both.) interesting theory material there. hoping for an influx of nymph yuri.

It's so crazy to me because when I think about homestuck I think first about the female characters and last about d-tier male characters like eridan... but you go out there and some people will only talk about cronus or horuss like... did you not see how the women in this story are awesome and important... even the joke female characters are more cool than joke male characters, I do not get it at all

You see this all over the fandom world. Men who only take male characters seriously, and women who only talk about the male characters they fancy. It's even more glaringly obvious in Homestuck where gender parity was baked into the source material right from the start.

There have been a few good threads on female characters on here, but they've got buried and there's still no search function. So I guess we could either dig them up or create new ones, try to keep the discussion going on here at least.

My all-time favourite character is Rose, and the most compelling subplot has to be the tale of the Scourge Sisters.

Ya know, earlier with the "humans are 'exclusively hetero' and trolls are 'exclusively bi'", there's a lot more contradiction on the human side of things. Like, the only confirmed non pan troll is Kanaya, whereas the only actually hetero humans are John, Jane and maaaybe Roxy. Maybe.

well "heterosexuality" and "bisexuality" are just ideas that arise from Lord English's introduction of gender to culture. since troll reproduction has no relation (presumed or real) to their idea of "gender", i think it's natural that most trolls don't even think about things like that in the first place and so it wouldn't even come up much, especially in the realm of personal identity. like you as a human might have an aesthetic preference for partners with a certain hair color, but you wouldn't use an identity label just for that. for many trolls it's probably like that.

Coming here to talk about JANE I LOVE JANE!!!!!!!!

She's my favorite human and my favorite villain/antagonist. Her slowly becoming HIC in Candy is soooo good like she's still talking and healing in her light blue color but wearing these crocker-red suits. I also love how her powers get used <3 Thanks to Br8k I'm also getting into VrisJane (or JaneVris, I like both) every few months or so.

Also, Jane is clearly better than Dirk since she pretty much shrugged off getting beheaded AND getting shot in the head. I believe that once she ascends to her Ultimate Self they'll have to kill or time her out so she won't just solve everything. It needed a troll army, four god tiers (can't remember if June did anything sorry </3) and Kanaya to fight Jane and in the end Vriska had to cut her head off (<- basically, Jane is really powerful and I don't like how she never gets mentioned when people discuss strong HS characters sorry)(amassing resources to that extent and controlling an entire planet is no small feat!!!)

Unfortunately a lot of female characters will always be always be overlooked in fandoms but honestly I haven't seen it suuppperr bad in homestuck? like yes probably it was way worse in the early days in the year 2025 I don't see it a lot especially because of how undeniably awesome and well written the strong female characters are in the comic

@blackpineforest27 also in homestuck she's the only one besides HIC that makes Aranea struggle, WHILE BEING ASLEEP

She's so strong, in the alpha timeline to rescue roxy they all have to go fight her and she still kills roxy... people understimate her a lot because she is the alpha kid whom seems more normal (she's the only one who lives on society) but that's far from the truth

@quienunsburb YESS THANK YOU!! I feel like people ignore Jane (saw some people call her boring...) and just push her to the side although she's imo the most competent kid!
