opinions on the VAs for the pilot?

i don't hate toby as john. i don't mind cherami as rose (but i won't unhear makoto nijima). no comment on the others

I heard the person voicing john is a bad person. He made a game about kids killing people :(

Pretty much agreed with OP, John and Rose sound about right but Dave didn't quite hit. I'm sure he'll grow on me, though.

i like all the VAs. like im familliar with their work and also tricky tony. but man. all white homestuck cast...

Excited for Toby and Colleen, but I agree that they should have probably had at least some people who aren't white. Also I think Dave should have a southern accent but that's not a big deal.

Really only John nails the voice, Dave has no swag and Rose sounds way too nasally imo.

can you fucking IMAGINE how thrilled toby must be to voice john egbert? y'know, john. the main character of the baby is you, Radiation's magnum opus. as a fox who likes making weird voices. i'm mainly focused on his performance, everything else is a bore to me

i feel like davwe and johns vwoices vwere rather similar to the point vwhere multiple people i sent the newvs to said they had trouble differentiating them at first. i do havwe to agree that the vwoice isnt great, doesnt fit him, and is one of many things making me a bit nervwous about the showv. i still havwe hope itll go fine though, no need in my eyes for people to be ovwerly negative about the idea as a vwhole. if they make terezi sound normal though im fucking rioting

rose is fine, reminds me of mandy from billy and mandy somevwhat. im so glad toby gets to be john i vwould not havwe it any other vway. perfect dvweeb voice for egbert

I like their voices honestly it sounds a lot like how I'd imagined they sounded, and I do like that some of the voices are different from the usual way people voice the characters.

i agree with cronus that dave and john sound maaaaybe a little too similar, but honestly i like that dave actually sounds like a thirteen-year old compared to that coolguy deep voice a bunch of people give him. rose sounds okay, and i ADORE toby as john <3

only one i wasn't a fan of was rose honestly since she's just getting the 2000s goth kid voice direction

my only real complaint is that rose and dave sound way too young imo.

toby has been my headcanon john voice for years but i'm not feeling dave tbh, he doesn't sound monotone enough for me

I found Rose's voice a bit jarring initially but later in the sentence she catches a decent stride. (PLUS CHERAMI LEIGH IS AN EXTREMELY BIG-NAME ENGLISH DUB VOICE ACTOR!!!)

All of them have sort of a nasal/vocal fry sound to their voices! Not really how I imagined it, lol... I hope they'll sound better in the actual episodes
