i became fond of pale rosekat after reading Unda's Alternate Universe. same with davesolkat, i suppose. i'm also terribly fond of kinda-pitch dirkhal but i haven't engaged with it as much as i used to.
Pale Jakekat. this is one of those rarepairs i came up with when i was younger and never forgot about it, it just laid there - dormant. it's border-lining crackship territory i think considering they've never interacted in Homestuck proper. theres about 1 fic of them in this quadrant, so i definitely need to draw and write more about them ^^;
i just think they'd complement each other well (*ˊᗜˋ*) in my mind, Jake needs someone who doesn't want him romantically and doesn't have the context of what happened with Jane and Dirk to affect their perception of him - he needs someone who will call him out on his bullshit and bad habits but still care deeply for him. Karkat is pretty emotionally intelligent, he feels strongly and doesn't bother to sugarcoat/mince his words even to those he cares about.
Karkat on the other hand is very self-deprecating and his hatred for himself clearly hinders him a lot, while it wouldn't magically solve all of his problems - i think having someone to genuinely believe in him and think he's capable of great things would help a lot. thus...Jakekat

i've been shooting for vrisjane, janerezi, and vrisjanerezi (each one on its own) for like, 10 years now. more recently, i've been really into aranea (spades) damara since i realized you can rearrange openbound in ways where if you're asking aranea for lore, you can have damara there and in earshot when aranea says "i think we all got what we deserved on alternia. i was a cool pirate, and the handmaid, well-" and i think that kind of dynamic is fucking awesome.

Flushed Spiderbites (VrisKan) feels like a forgotten about rare ship these days, Vriska making up with Kanaya in hell was glossed over and it didn't even have a message in the forum usernames. I am holding onto the faintest glimmer of hope, with medical amounts of hopium, that there's some post-Rose rebound potential there.
omg. i dont know how the hell i forgot to mention davevris! it was introduced to me through a species swap au on tumblr i'm forgetting the name of, but it had dave serket & vriska strider. it made me get into it within the normal characters though too. the pitch potential (pitch-tential?) is brilliant. i especially love it with dave as a trans woman in mind. transfem4transfem...
i think both their pasts and how they choose to go through life just make it really interesting to me.
aradave and ararose are my favorites. i think aradia has the potential for some great chemistry with the strilondes in general tbh

Agree with @victoria on Janevris/Janerezi/Janevrisrezi. There's so much to say about the way all three of them strive to live up to deeply toxic ideals- Terezi as a legislacerator, Vriska living up to Mindfang, Jane trying to be the heiress the Condesce wanted. Vriska and Jane, in particular, have a lot to say about sexual trauma and grooming and how that cycle can spill out onto other people, and the guilt that comes with it.
Another very rarepair of mine is Rose/Calliope. I read a really good fic that was written in the style of an old school fandom_wank report about them and I LOVED it.
Everybody needs to hear someone say “Nobody else will do. It has to be you", even if it's just once in their lives. As long as you can feel sure those words were sincere, you can live through anything, no matter how painful.
