Also, if we're splitting hairs, this inaction towards a bullied trans woman & the people harassing her is arguably transmisogynistic (a form of transphobia) in of itself. No, I'm not here to argue with you about this particular point, I just thought it was worth bringing up because of a particular server rule, but hey rules for thee but not for me, right?

Also if this post or account or my main "mysteriously" gets deleted, it's been real nice talking and interacting with y'all. I know the official discord shares some of it's moderators from here; so, I have already web archived this post as of posting this exact comment, just to be safe of course. I have screenshoted and saved PDFs of this post too.

I am commenting here using my own opinions but as someone who is a mod here and in the discord i should clarify i am biased, still take this as my words and not as the mod team.

I don't think she has to leave, while the whole situation sucks i think having her leave would set a very bad precedent and view of the mod team (this post being an example of said view).

I understand this situation brings concern and worry about the mod team on the discord but from my point of view we are all trying our best to make it a good community space.

@andytheillusion thank you for the response, I know y'all are juggling a lot, and I'm glad we're fully in agreement on this. Shows that you care about folks like us and eases my paranoia a bit despite many bad experiences online. It seems like it was just one bad apple and it might have hopefully gotten taken care of given the post update.

@bodertz I don't want this post deleted as I'm keeping the blogger anonymous and I think it's important to know that it happened at all for future reference for both the mods here (who probably don't know who said this) and everyone else, in case this pattern of behavior happens again with this same anonymous discord mod.

She didn't do anything wrong. I'm not in the official HS discord but I am in her own server where she's been keeping people updated. She isn't at fault, it's some kind of internal issue with management. Her only crime was having random dickheads target her for harassment, she shouldn't be getting told to leave about that. Honestly, my opinion of the entire HS discord is hinging on the outcome of this situation.

I struggle to keep up with large discords so letting this be known is very helpful because I absolutely missed it. it seems like things are working on being resolved though(?) which is also nice to hear.

I hope this is just “growing pains” in a rapidly expanding server and nothing like this will happen again as the mods gain experience

@meowmoment I'm not in her personal server, but I'm glad I helped bring attention to this as it seems there was a bad actor somewhere in management then. I'm well aware she's not at fault, but I still gave that very polite neutral tone to try and keep things professional. Believe me though, I was pissed off hearing about it, enough to make this post in the first place and I've been exhausted today for other reasons. It can serve one well persuasively to put observers in the shoes of the problem so they can see it from their own point of view. This could have been literally anyone and it was allegedly handled poorly, it's important to know that it happened at all for the sake of a healthy Discord server and to discourage this kind of negligent behavior from managers of the server onward.

@autumnwyvern my thoughts exactly, by documenting that this happened, I hope I can help the community grow healthier through it's growing pains by not repeating this mistake. I've been mostly having a fantastic time in the beyond-canon chat with other theorists and was very sad to see this had occurred.

@forgotpassword Right, sorry, I didnt mean to come off as accusational, that was my bad. From what I've heard most of the mods are on her side, so I'm pretty confident in guessing she'll be allowed to stay and this'll blow over, but it's still a little worrying that it happened at all, and so soon into the server's life cycle.

@meowmoment for what it's worth, I didn't find your reply accusatory at all, you were just stating how you felt and what you knew. She's very brave for coming forward and I hope she knows that, I'm a spiteful bitch (I can say that about myself); so, if it was me I'd be posting screenshots of who said it, what was said, name uncensored, and being like hey someone please deal with this chump whose ignoring enforcing the server rules and letting this happen to me. That's just how I am though. She's been very brave today and the mods are thankful, as are all of us. 💜 If it went unsaid, more problems would have cropped up with other people; so, she's been brave & very strong even though she shouldn't have had to be. 💜

@lupa I'm pretty sure it's because minors could be in that server. Either that or people are generally uncomfortable with that kind of content. Or it could be due to fear of being struck down by Discord due to "obscenity" or "breaking Discord's TOS". I feel like the server should have an 18+ section where that content is allowed as long as it has proper content warnings in it.

"think about the kids!" is a fallacy used to propogate bigoted and harmful rhetoric and is part of the groupthink currently being used to ban books throughout the USA that cover "sensitive" or "adult" topics like... being gay. or trans. and is also the groupthink currently being used to further legislation that makes trans medical care impossible to get for adults, let alone trans kids. also the groupthink that is currently being used to attack gay marriage. "think about the kids!" is like the gateway drug to bigoted thinking.

as for the discord stuff, the server explicitly bans sexually explicit material in its rules. there is literally nothing wrong with having an account on an unrelated site that has drawn porn on it. if they were posting their porn in the server, sure, ban them. but are they? the answer seems to be a resounding no. so that point is also moot
