A little touristic town lost in Maine mountains. A perfect place to spend your holidays with all of your family. When Harry Mason goes there, once again, with his dear daughter, he doesn't yet know they will go through hell...

He's alone there now, in the mist of bad dreams. Where's Cheryl?

Silent Hill is a legendary 1999 experimental survival horror game, that became a major component of horror culture and pop culture as a whole. It is about a town inhabited by primordial forces that give life to inner demons and terrible torments.

After the first game on Playstation made a good impression, Silent Hill 2 came out on PS2 in 2001 and became an immediate cult classic. To a lot of people, James Sunderland's journey is the ultimate Silent Hill experience and one of the best works of psychological horror of all times. Then the series started expanding further, becoming a rich transmedia franchise.

Did you already wander in the peaceful town? If yes, how many times? What are your favourite episodes? What's the one creature that haunts your dreams the most?

I really love Silent Hill! I never played it when I was younger, but I've slowly been through the process of playing them. I've played 1, 2, and 3 at this point. While I love all of them, I honestly think 3 was the scariest and had the most relatable themes. I have some thoughts about disability and chronic illness re: Silent Hill 2 and they kinda lean negative, even tho I hold that that game is still a masterpiece. Maybe I'll talk about it more at some point?

I've also played a bit of the Silent Hill 2 Remake and really liked it so far. I hope they do a remake of Silent Hill 1 bc, frankly, it needs it a lot more than 2 needed one.

I'm also looking forward to Silent Hill f! it actually looks pretty interesting

I've played 1/2/3 and would probably rate them 3>1>2. Silent Hill 3 is probably the best accidental trans fem narrative in a video game (Metal Gear Solid 2 is the best accidental trans male narrative in a video game)

The movies aren't that bad either

I played Silent Hill 1 back in April and thought it was pretty great. Dated, but still excellent at crafting an atmosphere and a sense of not being safe in this cozy little town. I'm really glad I played it just before it got a remake announced, it means that when I do play both of these things I'll be able to compare my experiences directly as a relatively new fan.

I just started SH2 the other day (the PC enhanced edition! remakes go home!) and so far it seems great, though admittedly I'm still right at the start. I'm in the unfortunate position of having to play a bunch of Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood right now for future episodes of my podcast, and that game is both long and ingratiating to play.

Previously, I've also played the Silent Hill-inspired SIGNALIS, and that is one of my favorite fucking games ever made. Holy shit you guys have to play Signalis. It's scary, it's a visual feast for the senses, there's classical Lovecraftian influence (none of that 'just drop cthulhu in there' shit), the weapons feel like they picked all their favorites from different Resident Evil games, the puzzles made me think really hard but not a single one required a guide, and there are robot lesbians. How could you not like it! It's got robot lesbians!
