So are we getting a post about the Gio situation and/or about what happened with SaHCon?

The twitter post announcing the official homestuck discord did mention that one would be made. It's been around a month now if I'm not mistaken with no updates. Is this (Gio situation and who made SaHCon make editorial decisions on who was allowed to be involved they did not want to make- seemingly resulting in the team cancelling the event in future-) going to be clarified soon? The misanthrope in me is starting to think that they (homestuck team, Hussie, et. al) aren't actually planning on saying anything and are just sort of waiting for this to blow over, because nothing that could be said would explain anything in a way that makes Homestuck less at fault here. I really hope that's not the case but I don't think I can keep holding out for much longer.

"nothing that could be said would explain anything in a way that makes Homestuck less at fault here" is exactly right. We haven't really got any reason to believe Gio's chatlogs are fake, Miles's initial response didn't even suggest as much, and dragging this shit up yet again would do...what, exactly? There's no secret "Gio is lying" evidence, the only thing Homestuck has ever been able to give us since the Sarah Z stuff is that they think Gio is a dick, and that doesn't actually make anything that's been said about the company untrue. It is absolutely in their best interest to say nothing at all, and I was shocked and got a serious sinking feeling when they even suggested addressing the UHC stuff officially.

The most they could do is correct the claims about FRAF and HICU being secretly entirely under Andrew's control and Gio essentially accusing Hussie of being a cult leader. I don't think the names and official classifications of stuff on the UHC and the discord server and such are really much evidence for Gio's claims, and I feel that he had almost no basis making the same allegations of FRAF (and his evidence for the cult thing is basically just saying "Psycholonials is real and thinks the jubilites are correct"). Even that would be conspicuously talking around the issue, which is that they sent a DMCA over a personal grudge and hurt a passionate fan developer and their project which massively helped the accessibility of Homestuck, which sucks. If they retract the DMCA, that would be a good thing, but I feel like they're not gonna do that.

I have no idea what's going on with SAHcon. It doesn't look good, but they never even hinted that they'd talk about that, so I have no reason to even speculate on that. Whoever was responsible for Funk McLovin being removed fucking sucks, I'll say that much.

As has been clarified the to me, the SaHCon staff have stated that the licensing did not play a role in their decision to end the event. The editorial concern then is a bit of a moot point though it would still be ideal to know because it was done without clear communication as to who made that call and for what reason

Yeah, we are still waiting for that whole writeup, it'll hopefully come out soon. But on good new Funk Mclovin is coming back for the last SAHCON as a Moderator and got an apology for suddenly being dropped from it. So it's not like Homestuck Inc. is just ignoring everything and hoping for the best. (Source: https://www.patreon.com/posts/blog-post-10-1-140226545)

I'll admittedly start getting worried if we enter November with no word about their response to the contents of the recent Gio articles but they're probably are still working on it. Sometime these sorts of things take a while.

RE: maxnexus

Just saw this via your post here but just want to make sure there's proper accountability here on this cause while I appreciate Jojo's choice for anonymity here I don't want people to make incorrect assumptions about who she's talking about. I was the one who apologized because it was my suggestion and it wasn't a decision made over Jonaya's head or anything by Andrew or Miles as Jojo initially misunderstood and Gio repeated in his article with 0 actual research or verification on the matter.

FRAF was planning to collaborate with SAHCon this year, we were going to put our resources towards helping out with the con and potentially assist with its continued operation after Jonaya retired as she wasn't interested in continuing it following this year's event. We've been in talks about this since very early July, a good ways before FRAF actually launched.

A few days later, Jonaya approached us for advice about her concerns with the harassment campaign Jojo was facing, and indicated her original plan was to ban anyone who brought it up on sight. I had the following concerns with that approach, as I explained to Jojo who also seemed to understand my reasoning for:

- The Streisand Effect. Trying to censor or hide sensitive information in such a visible matter as deleting messages and banning anyone who mentions a scandal will drastically increase curiosity over it and will result in more people becoming aware the information than would otherwise.

- This approach does not at all address external discussion of SAHCon, where people will likely be sharing the chatlogs under every post about SAHCon in a manner that's pretty much impossible to moderate.

- We already saw how much the harassment ballooned during the charity stream event. Given how much bigger an event SAHCon is and how high profile it was planned to be at the time with a panel for the pilot team, this would certainly be exponentially amplified.

I did not believe that there were measures in place to sufficiently protect Jojo from harassment, and as far as I've heard there still haven't been any ideas put forward that actually would. I did not feel as though it was safe for Jojo to attend the event, and it would give her harassers the largest venue available to platform their harassment.

For these reasons I suggested that an ideal resolution would be for Jojo to step away from the event this year in a co-operative and non-punitive capacity, similar to what she did with Promstuck. At least at the time, Jonaya agreed that this was an outcome worth pursuing and there wasn't any pushback, disagreement or argument over it.

As far as I'm aware the only action actually taken as a result of this conversation was Jonaya reaching out to Jojo and asking politely that she sit out of this year's event as a panelist/moderator. The only input I had on this message was to add a recommendation that she attend the con on an alt for her own safety. Outside of this, no action was actually taken against Jojo and I don't believe she was ever removed from the server or had her moderator privileges revoked.

After things kind of backfired and blew up, I wanted to reach out to Jojo directly and clear the air but unfortunately when she made her patreon post FRAF wasn't going to launch for another few weeks and I couldn't really explain why I was involved at all without leaking its existence. I was then regrettably too busy for the first week of launch to reach out, after which Gio released his article citing Jojo and Jojo said they no longer wanted to be contacted about anything Homestuck related. I did eventually reach out not too long ago to apologize.

As I told Jojo (most of this post is slightly edited from the message I sent her explaining things) I acknowledged that my proposed approach was flawed and I'm not trying to defend it. I see now it would have been better to find another way to prevent the harassment but no effective alternative was proposed and I simply wasn't smart enough to think of one. FRAF has since stepped away from involvement with SAHCon.
