Something I've been thinking about

The core is only distasteful when eaten on it's own, when simply biting into an apple there is no way around this, however when cut into slices one portion of the core only makes up a small bit of each slice and is therefore plenty fine(though may be slightly sharp) this is an example of the ancient art of homeopathy

following the thread on homeopathy implies that there's a point where you could cut a slice of apple so thinly, so finely that it would cure cyanide poisoning.

i use an apple slicer that also cuts around the core (though it leaves much less that i do when eating an apple whole). when you're at an apple core you've already had a good amount of the apple and you feel like you aren't that desperate while once you commit to eating the slices as whole then it's a different psychological playing field. .

I eat the core :)

You know what they say, an apple a day keeps the assassins and scorned lovers away, at least this is what my brother says and in following this I eat one apple sliced so thin it dissolves on the tongue daily.
But no matter how many apples I eat my wife continues to stick around, perhaps she is trying to think of a poison to use other than cyanide and that's what is keeping her?

wait you guys don't cut out the core when you cut apples into wedges??

i also have an apple slicer that cores the apple at the same time and i never thought doing it with a knife and just going through the core and not caring was a problem

this is not a value judgement about which method is better. i eat strawberries whole including the stem and leaves

Personally I eat apples from the bottom up. For whatever reason, when you do this it also seems like the core isn't really there. You can kind of tell, but not to a level that is upsetting or bad. You do very much notice the seeds though. Those are pretty bitter.

so the real question is, why is the most 'normal' quote on quote path to consuming an apple the one which produced the most waste and makes the unpleasantries most obvious. I have my theories, after all due to the cultural relevance of the apple we can all assume the fruit of the tree of good and evil is an apple, it's only logical, perhaps the indulgence in wastefullness the reminder of the rough edges and sharp bits inside, the total abandoning of effeciency for sole experiencieng of the soft supple candy like meat. perhaps this is an indulgence in what makes humanity human, poor decisions and immorality

my contribution to the recently popularized variant of discourse known as "applecores" is my personally determined optimal apple cutting method from five years ago. me and my community labored over this for many days and many nights. we argued and debated until our hearts gave out. this is what amounted from our efforts. please consider referencing this as scholarly material going forward.

I got a small one on clearance for like $7 a bit ago but it needs to be like. soaked in vinegar the metal is apparently not all that rust resistant. I guess that’s what happens when you buy cheap.

Personally I exclusively eat apples normal style and then eat the detritus core stem and all, I do this as an act of defiance against humanity, god and my own free will.

I eat the core. Im like a horse in that regard. Technically its all edible.
