So the recent announcement was sudden, but I think that [S]oundpage would be able to continue even with the pilot being released.
From what I was able to get from the panel, the pilot itself is being created as an alternate entrance point for the series as a whole. This would mean that it'd alter and condense events that would be elaborated by the original webcomic. And with [S]oundpage's goal of a more comprehensive adaptation, I don't think it's existence would threaten the pilot's. And besides, it's just a pilot, there is no confirmation that it would get past that point.
Anyways, wishing both teams luck!
i think itd be fine even if the pilot gets picked up i mean this forum is kinda about bringing fanworks together and having official and fan stuff coexist
and its not like various bits and bobs of homestuck havent been fan animated in the past
i mean there was an entire Joke on tumblr to convince people homestuck is in fact an anime back in the day complete with people animating scenes and faking screenshots
all this to say its fiiiine multiple things can exist at once
[S]oundpage is a much more detailed project. I expect it will continue as normal, as it serves a different purpose than the pilot.
This is some straight up delirious biznasty, Dawg!!
Yeah, the best thing that comes out of this hopefully is that people will come over wanting more, and discovering things that are already there, and already are happening. The biggest question is whether or not [S]oundpage is figured transformative enough to exist, and it being a part of FRAF is a point in it's favor now that I think about it. Just was wondering if it now comes with more consideration of how that translation is going to go from comic to animation so it doesn't conflict with the shiny and new adaptation. They do seem to have different goals in mind.
In a way, it removes any pressure for Project[S:] to be something it's not. The nature of what they're doing means it's never going to be a fast-paced, in-your-face, big-budget cartoon show - but now somebody else has that angle covered. So P[S:] can focus on the more leisurely joys of a blow-by-blow adaptation. Like, I certainly wouldn't expect the Spindleroo show to keep every line of dialogue from a converstion, or every conversation in a scene, or even every scene. Not the nature of the beast - compression and acceleration is what they'll go for. The bits of P[S:] I've seen so far DO reproduce entire conversations, and it's honestly kind of magic seeing it brought to life like that.
