I just started playing Tekken recently. I play a little SF6 and Yomi hustle.

YESSS! We LOVE YOMI Hustle here.
Street Fighter 6 has been a HUGE game lately. Who have you been playing in Tekken? I've been having a character crisis in Tekken 8, but I've found myself mostly gravitating around Lili.

Anyway, hello. I like fighting games :]

I'm a big fan of King of Fighters specifically. Not that I'm good at them, I'm more of a nerd about the lore and character designs than anything.

My favorite character is King if you're curious. Yes I know it's not surprising.

Does anyone here play +R? I like +R a lot. I’ve been meaning to get back on SF6 as of late but I also generally haven’t been playing a ton of fighting games as of late, would be down to play some with some FRAF posters.

I’ve played a small amount of a lot of fighting games because me and some friends used to have a fun game of picking something random off the mizuumi wiki, doing a like 5 minute read on there, and playing matches. If anyone wants to do that it’d be sick.

Several of my friends and I picked up Actress Again simultaneously a few weeks ago. I'm having a good time teaching myself how to Fifth Magic gaming (Aoko).

I LOVE SNK but I am so bad at SNK games. There's just something about the execution that just totally destroys my brain.

I play +R! I like +R a lot! I don't have NEARLY enough time in it, compared to a game like Strive, but I can totally chew on some +R like, basically whenever. I play Robo-Ky, because I'm a bad person.

I used to actually do something similar, but I would just crawl through the Fightcade ROMs looking for games I had never heard of before to bother my friends with.

I'm not the best at it, but I love playing Melty pretty much whenever and wherever. Dedicated Mecha and Neco main because I think they are the funniest possible character.

Fun question for the thread: How did you get into fighting games?

I personally had an interest of them but didn’t play them until I got a PS4 and was playing Season 1 SFV, where I was a mashy WiFi Ken. Simpler times, I think everyone has to be one at some point.

I fell off of SFV and didn’t really think about fighting games for a long time, until in late 2017 me and my friend really liked JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and wanted to check out Heritage for the Future, we played it a ton and I’ve been hooked to the genre ever since even if I'm not Always playing them consistently.

For me, it's a really funny story!
I had always passively been into fighting games, I liked playing Street Fighter, I liked playing Super Smash Bros with family, and Budokai Tenkaichi was a like, STANDARD, at every gathering I had with friends.
It was around when Skullgirls mobile was coming out when I started to seriously get into fighting games, though.

I loved the visual style, I was a sucker for anything animated by hand, to be honest, I still am. But when that game was coming out, it convinced me to start playing fighting games on my shitty little laptop.
At the time, I could only run a few games- Melty Blood, +R, Skullgirls, and the long collection of games on Fightcade. Fortunately, all games that were very cheap. I LOVED Jojoban. I actually got INTO Jojo's because of Jojoban. That is to say, it's always Jojo's fault.

Oh, yeah! I didn't even think to include stuff that wasn’t more “FGC” kindlings so to speak. When I was a little kid my brother would destroy me on SF2 and the Alpha games on a hand-me-down genesis and PS2 respectively, and the first game that was ever bought for me specifically was vanilla MvC3, where my brother also kicked my ass. Honestly if my brother wasn’t a bit of a douche with fighting games I wonder if I still would have taken such a liking to them later on.

I feel that pool of games btw, I had a very similar situation because all I had for a computer for years was one of the really weird handlebar “All-in-ones” with an old i3.

Huge fan of Fighting Games here, got like nearly 4k hours in them all together

kinda pulled back a bit from actively playing them but the one fighting game I've been majorly focusing at lately has been King of Fighters XV, probably the best modern fg imo, well balanced, easier to pick up than previous entries but still maintains everything that makes KOF KOF and just being a good bloody game.

I used to play +R last year as well but the scene kinda blew up in Australia so it is kind of ultra dead, but am looking to try out Xrd a little more.

So far I'm just kinda in the Tokon waiting room, game looks hella promising and I started on DBFZ so it's kind of in my DNA for games like those.
Other than that I've just been messing around with kofxv waiting for it to kinda pick up some steam in Australia again like it does every so often.

King of Fighters XV is such a fun game, but there are just so many games out that it's hard for me to prioritize it. I love the chance to ever catch gameplay of it. It is SO fun to watch. I miss when it was at EVO because I did not mind waking up early to catch it before the rest of the weekend. Huge hopes for Tokon, and also Strive 2.0. As a certified Strive Enjoyer, I hope they listen to a lot of fan feedback and add more in-terms of individual character depth and movement. They have to be adding Instant Kills this time, right? Surely.

I sadly am not much of a Strive fan, it didn’t really fit what I like and they also nerfed my character to oblivion LMAO (Zato)

I am super excited for Tokon though, I love Marvel (Both comics and Mahvel) and so far most of my immediate concerns about it have turned into “Holy shit that’s so cool” with more info. Before its announcement I was concerned the only big tag fighter we were gonna have was 2XKO, which I am… going to try on proper release but my hopes aren’t too high.

2XKO is a.... uh, I think the game was cool for a while but I can't lie I have been very dismayed from latest footage and beta matches the game suffers from I assume executive overreach, a major reason on not letting FG pro players who haven't done game design, do game design and just mechanical bloat, I hope the game is good but I've been very iffy for a while, the vanguard anti cheat already kinda kills my interest cause I hate it

I got deep into it somewhat recently, tho it was always a presence in my life. The trigger for the recent obsession was actually me getting back into art.

I love drawing pretty girls. And them fighting game girlies are on a league of their own.

I think SNK and FGs peaked as a whole design wise with King, just such a simple but perfect character design, I might be a little biased but yeah SNK rly knocked it out of the stadium with like 90% of their female character designs, another character I adore is May Lee but god I wish she could show up again

love fighting games, though as i don't have many friends who play them and have social anxiety keeping me from joining discord servers for games so far, my experience with anything from before the 2020s (i.e. any game without consistent in-game matchmaking) boils down to playing through arcade mode as every character, picking the one i had the most fun with and going "cool! now i have a main for this game i won't end up playing!" despite that i love fighting games deeply and would love to play them more consistently!

i got into them a couple years ago when bedman was announced for guilty gear strive. bedman was one of the only characters from the series past that i recognized, and how different he was here compared to his last appearance got me super intrigued and got me to pick the game back up after buying it at launch and then giving up due to being bad at it. back then i had only tried at ramlethal and i-no since i thought they were both cute, but upon picking it back up i decided to look at the 15 base character roster (i never bought any dlc even though happy chaos was my bi awakening LOL), pretending i didn't know a single thing about any of them, and picking a main based solely on what i could glean on the character select screen. that lead me to trying out faust, who ended up being the first fighting game character to click with me! for the first time i was winning online matches semi-consistently and having fun playing a fighting game! a few weeks later bedman would release and would click with me even more, and from there the rest is history!

my takeaway for anyone reading this thread who is trying to get into fighting games is, once you've found a game to play, pick the character that you think looks the coolest or most interesting, get a feel for their movement, learn all their moves, and start playing some matches. if you feel the way many people new to fighting games feel, losing most matches, not having much fun, keep trying other characters until you find one that finally clicks with, one that you have fun playing in real matches even if you're still not winning much. and if you try the whole roster and still aren't into it, try a different game! the most magically part of finding the characters that clicked with me in guilty gear strive was that afterwards, i could now go back to fighting games i had tried in the past and enjoy them the same way i enjoyed this one! once you find just one character in a single game that clicks with you, the whole genre becomes your oyster!
