So somehow this hasn't been made yet despite multiple flags of various colors indicating that there is at least a palpable overlap between Homestuck people and MLP fans.
Personally, I remember watching MLP FiM (gen4) and liking it like a decade ago, then I picked it back up and watched the first 4 seasons like 3 to 4 years ago, which I thought was pretty darn good. Then like 1 to 2 years later on I finally started watching MLP FiM seasons 5 through 9, which was even better than I could have expected (It was not without some flaws though I admit).
I don't have much experience with gen1 and gen3 but maybe I'll go back and look at those too. (Gen2 was just a toyline so there's no episodes to go with it.)
Now I've managed to watch pretty much ALL of Gen4. This includes (*cartoonishly large inhale*): All main episodes from the main 9 seasons, "My Little Pony: The Movie" (despite it's erm, questionable quality when it came to writing the characters well I feel like), "My Little Pony Best Gift Ever" (a Christmas special which I missed before), "Rainbow Roadtrip" (like the mlp movie animation and length wise, but like, they did much better with the character writing), the 8 ~3min shorts, all 10 episodes of "Baby Flurry Heart's Heartfelt Scrapbook", the 5 very short episodes of "Fundamentals of Magic", the 3 also very short episodes of "Rarity's Peek Behind the Boutique", and the 6 episodes of "Friendship is Forever".
I've ALSO watched all the Equestria Girl stuff, so "Equestria Girls" (one 1hr ep), "EG: Rainbow Rocks" prequel shorts, "EG: Rainbow Rocks" (one 1hr 13min ep), "EG: Rainbow Rocks" encore shorts, "EG: Friendship Games" (one 1hr 12min ep), "EG: Friendship Games Bloopers" (one 2.5min ep), the 5 "EG: Friendship Games" shorts (~2min 20sec each), "EG: Legend of Everfree" (one 1hr 13min ep), "EG: Legend of Everfree Bloopers" (one 2min 13sec ep), "EG: Tales of Canterlot High" (3 22min eps), "EG: Forgotten Friendship" (1 45min ep), "EG: Rollercoaster of Friendship" (one 44min ep), "EG: Choose Your Own Ending Season 1" (10 eps where you get to choose your path; total footage time of each episode is about 6min), "EG: Better Together S1" (27 eps that are ~2min 40sec each), "EG: Better Together S2" (24 eps that are ~2min 20sec each), "EG: Choose Your Own Ending Season 2" (9 eps where you get to choose your path; total footage time of each episode is about 5min 45sec), "EG: Spring Breakdown" (one 44min ep), "EG: Sunsets Backstage Pass" (one 44min ep), "EG: Holidays Unwrapped" (one 44min ep), and "EG: Summertime Shorts" (16 eps, ~2:50 in length).
So that's all of Gen4 that I've watched. I've also watched all of "Pony Life S1" and "Pony Life S2".
Right now I'm making my way through Gen5.
Wow that is a lot of text. Probably too much? But yeah. Feel free to share pony fanfics, your favorite pony, what your experience was with whatever generation you watched, what you liked and what you didn't, your favorite episodes, all that jazz. Cause seriously, we gotta get some pony talk up in here.

i love how mlp fandom has shifted away from bronys and (ime) mostly to lesbians and others who Truly Value The Friendship. it rocks. been meaning to rewatch g4 main series! didn't love g5 but i don't think that's g5's fault. doubt i would have liked g4 if i hadn't watched it as a child first lol
RE: kurosurintomasu - I cannot fault you for that. Both for the fact that the 2 episodes they played a major role in were pretty good, and for the fact that they are voiced by Weird Al.
RE: senlemonsnout - Yeah! In my experience... well okay I haven't had much experience with the fandom itself, but it does feel like it's a lot healthier now than it was back when it was a frothing obsession. Oh and if you want to re-watch the gen4 main series, I sincerely hope you check out "My Little Pony Best Gift Ever", which is the gen4 Christmas special, which honestly I thought was really well done. Out of all the extra stuff for gen4, that was like, the one I wish I had seen earlier the most. The second most bestest one I thought was the 6 episodes of "Friendship is Forever", since I feel like it is a much better ending to the show than the final episode of S9. There's also now season 10 in comic form which I also gotta read, but supposedly it's pretty good.
Also yeah, Gen5 doesn't seem as good as gen4, but to be fair, Gen4 is a pretty high bar. It's still fun though I think for the most part. The most glaring thing to me besides the whiplash to 3d animation is probably the world building inconsistencies, but yeah.

RARITY ROCKS. EVERY OTHER PONY SuCKS AND I WANT TO WATCH THEM BEING SLAuGHTERED. THAT IS MY TWO CENTS.
TDLR;
RARITY > EVERY OTHER BITCH IN THAT SHOW.
Sincerely, rupaul superfans
RE: iamyourlord - Interesting take. I'm not sure I have ever met a Rarity enjoyer before. I mean, I like all of the Mane 6, but Rarity doesn't jump out at me as a favorite. Starlight and Twilight are probably my duel favorites personally. I like them both for different reasons. Any reasons in particular Rarity is your favorite? I am legitimately curious.

RE: heirofmind RARITY IS QuITE THE APPEALING PONY AND IT TRuLY IS A SHAME THERE ARE NOT MORE RARITY FANS OuT THERE. SHE IS TRuLY THE BEST OF THE BEST. SHE LIKES FASHION AND IS NOBLE ABOuT IT. SHE IS A CREATIVE, MuCH LIKE I, AND I ADMIRE HER FOR THAT. SHE HONES HER CRAFT. AND GETS HER DRESSES DONE.
SHE MAY BE DRAMATIC. BuT I FIND IT ENTERTAINING. MuCH MORE THAN ANY OTHER PONY. SHE IS PROPER SO I DO NOT MIND IF SHE WHINES ABOuT MuD ON HER HOOVES. SHE uNDERSTANDS CLASS AND ELEGANCE. I CANNOT CONVEY MY THOuGHTS THAT WELL BuT SHE IS JuST THE BEST PONY THERE IS. NOBODY COMPARES!
Sincerely, rupaul superfans
RE: iamyourlord - Hmm. That is honestly not a bad way to put it. I mean, yeah, as I've said, I like all the Mane 6 a lot, so I worry sometimes when I say one is my favorite, that I view the others badly, but that's not the case at all. It's like choosing between getting a free 1005 dollars or a free 1002 dollars. Both are good but you obviously want to pick 1005 dollars. It's kind of the same for me and the Mane 6.
Rarity is actually pretty ambitious when you think about it, and honestly I can see why that would be so appealing. Sure they all are ambitious in their own ways, but Rarity has their stuff under control. They don't freak out like Twilight; they don't do dumb stunts from time to time like Rainbow; they aren't "trapped" by their occupation like Applejack; and they aren't ever timid like Fluttershy... and Pinkie Pie just does their own thing. Sure the characters all overcome their weaknesses along the way, but you are right that Rarity just seems to always have their eye on what they want. Heck maybe I should appreciate Rarity more now that I think about it.
