The 1982 movie "The Thing" by John Carpenter is a MASTERPIECE of science-fiction and horror, a monument, a fundamental work, and if you have the possibility to watch it, if you're not too susceptible to body horror and paranoia, WATCH IT NOW, you must watch it, it is SO GOOD, so amazing!

But not only is it a classic, it is also a story which, much like its title creature, keeps changing, dividing into new incarnations, renaming and re-shaping itself!

This tale of horror and absolute annihilation does not actually begin in 1982, but in 1938, when John Campbell publishes Who Goes There?, a novella that changed the face of science fiction and horror forever.

I strongly advise you to give it a read, it may be 87 years old but it is smarter than most scifi stories, creepier than most horror stories, and it is a cornerstone of both genres. It also unfolds quite differently from the movie adaptation, so be prepared to other horrific twists.

There are dozens of other versions of the story out there, but to list them all, I will wait for the edit function.

Did you see this movie? Or any other incarnation of The Thing? What do you think of it? Would you recommend other works of the same kind? What about imitations? Are you an imitation? Am I an imitation? If I was an imitation... I would know, right?

Yep, that sure is a The Thing (1982 Film), but who could forget The Thing (2002 Video Game) with its squad based action and trust/infection system.

If two girls were on the moon how long would it take for them to kiss?
