Vivziepop Hatred

I’ve heard people seriously complain about both her writing and her art, but as I have watched neither of her shows I’m not exactly qualified to make a definitive judgemenT. none of the criticism I’ve seen is exactly damning.

A lot of it is just not liking the shows and vivzie being really bad at social media, a lot of other stuff is "I'm going to interpret this in the worst possible faith" which is the nature of online discourse. I may be misremembering but I believe there was also some employee treatment issues, that's one a more honed dramafrog would have to tell.

Yeah the only thing I'm getting is 'well she was commed for a porn animation that had rape in it' which is like. Okay? I don't really care about that.

And besides, controversy surrounding creators isn’t something we should get worked up over until we solve our own issues.

I wish I could fill you in, but I've tried to figure it out on three separate occasions now, and I've just come out more confused every time.

and a lot of the old dA stuff is just gone from the internet but some of the old tumblr stuff is either searchable on tumblr itself or has been archived waybackmachine style if you want to really go digging for any of that, but its relevance to The Now is debatable

i personally can't stand her humour and find her shows to be like. annoying at best (sort of thing that uses saying the r slur as a punchline). main reason I dislike her is she's been transphobic in the past

Yeah I 100% agree with those criticisms. I just think it's crazy that people are acting like this collab is the end of the world or something lol.

i don't like that she had a rape fetishist storyboard a s/a scene, and when asked about it said the storyboarder was an s/a victim, and when the storyboarder was asked they said they we rent and that they just found it hot. also her character designs are cluttered as fuck and she couldn't draw a fat person to save her life

yeah id say like specifically in terms of vivzie vs hussie since it was talked about in the other thread and im trying to contain the conversations properly lol is that hussie's humor and writing style has grown and evolved over the years while arguably vivzie's hasnt and its rouuuugh. (also at one point angel dust actually looked like a spider and i get u gotta simplify for animation but come on man. the old art is so much cooler.)

The SA thing I could care less about. Someone can have any fetish they want it's not my business and policing that is just how you get puritanism. Genuinely do not care. The designs thing I can fully understand but like that's a non factor consdiering she's not designing anything (honestly its unclear how involved she even is) so it's just weird how people are acting about this imo

Being annoying on Twitter is 99% of the reason anyone actually hates anyone else.

Being cringe in any capacity is 100% of the reason anyone actual dogpilee on anyone. Far as I can see, she just needs to do less of her own PR. Everything else is just conscientious decision making- thinking two steps ahead and making moves that will reduce controversy while maintaining your artistic vision.

The SA fetishist storyboarding an SA scene, for instance, maybe could have had a bit more thought put into it.

from how my friend with a very love-hate relationship with the shows explains it: its that she will try to portray a more serious topic (such as SA) with the sort of nuance and care one would hope to expect and then completely trip over a rock on the road and end up with the most poor taste or just frustratingly written thing. like (to my friend anyway) part of the issue is that it gets So Close to being good (both in regards to sensitivity and general story beats) but then just falls apart completely. or the chekhov's gun never fires and is just never even addressed again. just real messy stuff.

but full disclosure i myself have not watched any of it because, i kid you not, the amount of saturated reds in many scenes gives me a headache. i dont think i would like it based on what ive been told and just things ive heard about vivzie over the years. but if i did i couldnt watch the thing anyway

There's lots of stuff tbh. Poor writing and flat characters, stealing art/character designs, drawing zoophilia, drawing underage sex, many instances of weird nazi stuff, and general and repeated abusive behavior to her employees/peers/team.

I don't like Vivziepop because of her specific use of Hoodoo culture in her cartoon and how she patently ignored actual black fans and people telling her that it is indeed very offensive to use someone's actual religion as a spooky element to add to your Demon OC. And I especially do not like her because when people called her out on this she just went "lol stop complaining he is literally black" and then proceeded to make him not look Black at all, have any references to Hoodoo in his design or manner of speaking outside of mentioning fucking Jambalaya one time in the pilot, and then having her annoying little racist fans berate anyone who are annoyed with her.

I avoid any vivziepop news and don't watch her cartoons because of this one thing, and I do not care to argue with anyone about whether or not "alastor is black" lol so do not even waste your time trying to reply to me about it potential Hazbin fans </3

Many people act like Vivziepop is the spawn of satan though, and some act like she has never done anything wrong ever and is a perfect angel who everyone just wants to hate for no reason :((((

She is a person and some people are just annoying. End of story.
