Oh god, I fucking love Jun Togawa. Most people know her from her most popular songs, Suki Suki Daisuki and Sayonara wo Oshiete, which itself expresses plenty of her avant-garde tendencies such as her vocal range and how willing she is to explore it, but she's a pioneer of anti-idol music and has had a load of more experimental/avant-garde shit, like her project Guernica which follows a concept of the wartime period of WWI and WWII in Europe and Asia. Even her more "mainstream" music is weird as hell, though, in the best possible way. Her debut solo album Tamahime-sama has some sick ass tracks, like the title song and Konchugun, but one of my personal all-time Jun favorites is her cover of Angel Baby on the Suki Suki Daisuki album. The way she uses her voice in her music is so incredible, she has an unbelievable amount of talent with it, a prime example of it, I think, is her song Densha de GO. It's not just the music alone that makes her such an amazing artist, she's also one of the greatest performers I've ever seen. If you find recordings of her performing Tamahime-sama or Barbara Sexaroid live, she fucking owns that stage, she's so goddamn weird and I live for every moment of it. I cannot recommend her music enough. She also has some more somewhat mainstream stuff that she did with her band YAPOOS, resulting in probably my favorite song of hers ever, NOT DEAD LUNA. It means the world to me.

listen to Ov by Orthrelm
clowns kissing
im gonna add these suggested artist’s songs into a playlist so i can listen to them btw!! since i love talking about stuff i like i might as well add my own recommendation to people who see this post (hoping it counts), daijoubu-p makes strange music with random rhythm changes and a pretty discomforting tone to the music
TW: these videos can contain imagery, music, and lyrics that can be disturbing to others, like suicide, drugs, and mental illness, just want to be sure ^^; ill delete this if it breaks a rule

i’m a MASSIVE psych rock fan so heres some of that:
the madcap laughs by syd barrett
no joke my favorite album of all time. barrett was the original frontman/lead guitarist of pink floyd and a straight up genius. this album was released after he was unceremoniously kicked out from the band due to addiction and severe mental health issues taking their toll. it’s an awesome album with fairytale elements and a dark atmosphere. genuinely cannot recommend this album enough.
the crazy world of arthur brown (self titled)
really awesome and absurd psych album. i won’t spoil too much of it for you but it really is a wild ride. the single off of it, fire, literally opens with him screaming ”I AM THE GOD OF HELLFIRE” it’s fucking awesome. arthur brown himself has a powerful voice and makes sure to use it.
the psychedelic sounds of the 13th floor elevators by 13th floor elevators
CLASSIC american garage psych! this album has a great rock edge to it that i really love. “youre gonna miss me” is like constantly stuck in my head. CONSTANTLY.
i have way way way more rattling around in my head but lowkey i am out with a friend atm so i might have to come back and share em later
