Figured I'd make a post for forumers to converse amongst one another about various games they've been playing recently and what they think of them!

With the recent release of Bananza and not owning a switch 2, I figured I'd go back to try the rest of the DKC trilogy, as I'd finished 1 but didn't get around to playing 2 and 3. Gotta say they're pretty damn good; tough as balls but still hold up surprisingly well as platformers, not to mention the environments are gorgeous. 3 Especially looks amazing, the parallax water effect on the first stage alone is really jawdropping, I'm surprised something of this quality could even be pulled off on the SNES.

personally ive been really getting into yume nikki fangames again, stuff like 2kki, .flow, collective unconscious. really fun stuff. def not for everyone (not nsfw but not really a traditional 'game' per se) but id say for everyone 2 give it a try & just blindly wander. its very soothing i love it.

everything u do is a balloon :)

I've been playing Last Window, the sequel to Hotel Dusk that was never released states-side. It's way, way better than the first game by basically every conceivable metric, and I highly recommend checking it out.

@confoundingtypistry I love those kinds of games but I feel like I need to get in on them when they're still fresh in order to still enjoy them. My favorite part is the sense of collaborative discovery; a huge, unexplored frontier of areas and secrets that everyone is working together to solve. While I'm sure I could get that kind of experience with the Nikki fangames, a lot of them (and most definitely the first) already feel "solved" in a sense, all the areas and interactions have been figured out. Last game I played to encapsulate this sort of feeling I'm thinking of is B3313; charting out all the different paths and convergences in the plexus when no one really knew wheree everything was or what all was hidden really scratched that itch I was looking for.

I contribute to a lot of open source emulator projects and play through games while I contribute to them so I've been going through some older games lately!

I recently beat Threads of Fate for the PS1 and now I'm starting Golden Sun for the GBA and Grandia for the Sega Saturn!

The latest game i played was trying fortnite out for the first time with one of my brothers' account. It was kinda entertaining by listening to my brothers' frustrated reactions due to me forgetting I take fall damage all the time haha.

In my last game I made it to 4th place by just running around the Fortnite wilderness so that was fun lol

Ohhh fuck I need to play DKC again... I've been getting an odd amount of SNES nostalgia recently and I do wonder if it's because of Bananza.

The SNES is honestly capable of being so beautiful/otherwise visually impressive.. Earthbound's effects and Yoshi's Island come to mind.

I've been playing a lot of Don't Starve Together with friends recently! It's really, really fun, and I'm glad to revisit a game I haven't properly sat down and played for like, almost a decade now.

You know, I've also been in a SNES mood myself lol, I might boot something up soon...

Though personally, I've been playing a lot of Tiny Rogues on PC. It's a really nice, fast paced bullethell roguelite that hits all the right roguelite buttons for me as far as I can tell, a really fun and addicting game from a gameplay standpoint.

i've been playing a whole lot of dark souls 1 recently! it's my first time playing a game like it, and it's really amazing. i can definitely see why it was so influential to the genre.

unfortunately the second half does NOT hold up to the same quality of the first half, which is a shame. nothing completely ruinous of course, but it's a bit of a sucker-punch going from anor londo to lost izalith.

Recently I've been playing abiotic factor with my friends! Super fun, you can tell its highly inspired by half life 1, which gives it a nice charm. It has fishing, base building, cooking, and a really fun crafting system. The fighting is great too, everything you kill feels actually rewarding!

Making bases with my friends has been surprisingly the most fun, it also has a cool electricity mechanic which you have to incorporate into your base. The exploration is great as well, youre always finding little new things and items to pick up.

Its pretty buggy and the loading zones are as frusterating as half life. But its easy to look past that. Its 30$ too, a bit of an investment but it is soo worth it.

Honestly, just playing a random game of the NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, or even more recent titles (Ace Attorney comes to mind) usually fills my gaming needs. I've recently been playing Deltarune, which, as a small little gremlin that installed it back in the day with a patch for it to be in spanish, brings a smile to my face.

As for specific games... Hm. I'd say that ULTRAKILL,Balatro and the already mentioned Deltarune are the most regular on my screen and my personal recommendations. Retro favorite has got to be "Punch Out!" for the NES, though!

been replaying night in the woods recently. first time i played through it changed my brain chemistry. i'd definitely recommend it if you're into story-based games

i also just... eternally have fallen london as a 'side game.' thats not to say i dont love it dearly, i just dont consider playing it to be a 'main activity' at all. been having fun with the summer event!
