As implied by the headline: What is you (or your OC's) land like? Do you know what the land's quest would be? Consorts? Vibes?? I like world building and and absolutely love that you can learn so much from someone's Land! Wasn't sure if this was posted here, so hopefully I'm not squandering attention from another thread.

My favorite one I've created will always be the first one, the Land of Storms and Brambles! While it's not my Land anymore, whenever I thought I was a Mage of Breath I got creative and envisioned it. It's a storm wrought land that usually has tamer weather, as the storms usually aren't this strong or destructive. What was causing it was that massive brambles (think Donkey Kong Country 2 style) were not only wrapping the world in thorns but also blocking and redirecting air streams. Massive weather systems would collide and just absolutely wreck anything in its area and it's up to the Mage to solve the problem!

I don't have a land for myself, but I have quite a few for my OCs. The land for my main character is The Land of Steel and Arteries, which is a planet made of jagged steels spires with rivers of blood running between them. :)

the bast land I created was for a troll bard of blood. the land of ink and glass was made almost entirely of the latter. it had a smooth surface with mushroom-like protrusions in the place of buildings and plant growth, also of glass. all of it was covered in gray dust and smog that made it impossible to see through, so that it looked like stone. As the quest was completed and the dust washed away, it would become clear glass and reveal that all of the strange formations were filled with ink in all the colors of the rainbow (hemospectrum), which Skaia’s light would shine through like stained glass. The idea was to gradually teach the bard to have more respect for his aspect.

This is some straight up delirious biznasty, Dawg!!

I'm quite pleased with Land of Whales and Waterlilies - the whales are tiny compared to the waterlilies, which have leaves the size of islands and flower-palaces full of axolotl Consorts.

I'm happy to read people's neato creations! I've had some lands that I've toyed with and fleshed out but never got around to fully making a design for them. I had one for a Maid of Blood that I called the The Land of Chorus and Kingdoms. And another for a Time player that was called the Land of Seams and Skulls.

Land of Chorus & Kingdoms:

LoCaK is a land of diverse biomes and even more diverse consorts. While all are ferrets, each kingdom sports a different musical style that often incorporates itself into the very heart of the village’s culture, albeit fashion, architecture, or caste system. Though these lands used to be harmonious, a consort from one kingdom had been found horrifically slain in another. This planted the seed of distrust between kingdoms and was spurred on by rumors and growing animosity. As kingdoms begin building their forces and defenses, the whispers of war are brewing, and it is up to the Maid of Blood to discover the root of the discord and bring harmony back to the kingdoms.

Land of Skulls and Seams:

LoSaS is an arid, desert world that is blanketed in dunes of colorful sand expanding to the horizon with skulls scattered about. What is not covered by the desert’s expanse of dunes seems to clash with empty fields that seem to consist of different textures and colors of fabrics. The quilted fields are scarcely dotted with cities that, when closely examined, seemed to be sewn together and tight at the seams. The consorts of the land are that of a conundrum, they are plush creatures that also seem like they’ve either been sewn, knit, or quilted. These towns used to celebrate the art of their craft in large festivals that rival any festivities you’ve ever seen. Unfortunately, the towns are becoming vacant and falling into ruin as a mysterious force begins to untwine the consorts’ accomplishments. As consorts go missing, they can only take shelter in the dark, cold nights as the only clues turn to the desert areas that are littered with skulls and strands of string. Scratch Construct is a loom, used to keep time. Tunnels under the desert, a much cooler environment. Water has also gone missing from the cities, which helps power the loom.

A couple more lands I've already made use of:

Land of Trees and Crystal is covered in dense forest with colourful crystal mountains rising out of it. Haven't seen the Consorts yet, but they're probably geckos.

Land of Dunes and Gallows is what it says on the tin: a rolling sandy desert with antiquated execution devcies all over the place. Roving tribes of Gharial-Consorts are just about holding on.

The players on these worlds are non-humans, and they've never seen a forest or a desert before in their lives.

I made 8 for a story I never got around to finishing, the most prominent were the following:

- Land of Thorns and Steam (Dark, rocky land with giant thorny vines and geysers)

- Land of Ramps and Roses (Flowering fields with various scattered skateboarding structures)

- Land of Hills and Haze (Literally just tons of hills and SO much fog)

- Land of Quartz and Light (My personal favorite, huge bluish-purple caverns with enormous multicolored crystals)

Among these were the lands of Vines & Thunder, Crystal & Shores, Twilight & Obsidian, and Rock & Snow.

They're rather juvenile and uninteresting considering I devised them when I was 15 and overeager to create my own HS story after reading it for the first time, but I certainly enjoyed the process.

I dunno, "Land of Ramps and Roses" has a bit of a ring to it!

@alternativesymphony

Hills and Haze? You sent a player's ass to Silent Hill??? But like truly enjoying the world building is the fun part, even if the ideas get on the nose or cringy looking back. Sometimes the deepest ideas can hide in simplicity. Or some other smart quote, you get it.
I usually end up overthinking mine because I get too deep into the ecology and somehow forget this (buggy-as-hell, I remind you) game is quite literally magic at times.

Land of Cities and Shadows.
basically think the non-central parts of London, either at night or with the typical shit weather.

(interesting fact: there is quite a lot of greenery and nature in London, so that sort of thing would almost be a respite from the rest of the land.)

My PFP isn't Vriska, though I may have stolen her aesthetics.

My idea is based off of a dream I once had. It's the Land of Slides and Sand, and it's a desert full of abandoned water park structures. It would be designed for a hero of Life, and the quest would involve getting water to flow through the slides again.

re: laconicGabbler

Aye, that's a point - a land usually has a Quest built into it, even if we never get to see it due to the player being distracted. My Land of Dunes and Gallows has the obvious one of making some dried-up rivers flow again (or else), but I don't have quests for my other lands yet.

Bringing/restoring water definitely seems to be a theme! Ironically after long bouts of overthinking and redundant introspection I was nearly giving myself migraines trying to build a Land for myself. Obviously it was never super serious but when I'm caught up in draws of hyper-fixation I tend be a perfectionist. Mainly trying to reinvent the wheel because I kept thinking "it's gotta be unique, don't wanna copy someone else by accident", but when your second word is set to "Frogs" its a little difficult. It was only within the most recent year I settled for "Walls" cuz ain't no one better than putting up both mental and physical hurdles than myself lol. So LoWaF it is! Eventually I'll design it. Maybe. It's on a long list of projects that I'll hopefully have a dent in by the end of the year :]

It's a land that's pretty bucolic but is sectioned into uneven chunks by massive cobblestone walls of various stages (think Great Wall of China height). There's a massive dam that acts as a caldera/lake somewhere on the world that also houses the Forge. So once again water themes! Probably common for Space players anyways
