Why do FRAFWork Creators have moderation permissions?

And why was I not aware of that until this post: https://fruityrumpus.com/forums/reply/689bc208eb0e1f3bca70c105

This seems like a bizarre choice to me, and since I've watched a beloved community implode in part due to certain user roles unexpectedly having moderation permissions, I am concerned for the future of this forum.

As it stands, more FRAFWorks = more mods. And that's bad enough. Too many cooks, etc. But there's also the added dimension that either FRAFWork candidates are vetted based on willingness to give their creators mod permissions, which could result in the exclusion of otherwise great fanworks, or they aren't, and someone who's fine as a creator but shitty as a mod will become a mod.

This is a disaster waiting to happen.

This is a valid concern to have, the Creators have mod permissions mostly to be able to manage and moderate their sub-forums easily. Now that we've launched and we're better able to gauge how much moderation we actually need to manage the forum effectively, we can probably strip back some of these perms.

there's levels of moderation permissions, and most of the ones that the creators have are stuff like "pinning posts," which are handy to have for your own subforums and such. as we grow and gain new features and new frafworks, we'll reshuffle and reorganize some stuff. it also helps that moderation is very hard and we have a pretty sizeable and organized moderation team handling the bulk of the work anyhow.

I was shocked learning that, and I'm glad its seemingly being reversed. It's odd that FRAF affiliates should have moderator permissions, however limited, when its a role that isn't strictly tied to their suitability for moderation.

Has it been reversed? To what degree? If not, can the lime role be renamed to something like "FRAFWork Creator (Temporary Mod)" until then?

Can we please have some answers here? It's vitally important to any community's health that the members know who the mods are!

RE: abiogenerator

I have stripped the permission to trash posts from the FRAFWork Creators. I have left their permissions to Pin and Lock threads as I feel that is generally useful enough for managing their work's sub-forums, and very easy to correct if abused. I'd also like to note that they never had permission to issue bans or do anything other than Trashing, Pinning and Locking.

Nice, that neatly removes the obvious conflict of interest without forcing them to drag someone else in to do basic tasks for them.
